Every step we finish with this kitchen renovation feels worthy of a celebration and the pantry is just about finished with the addition of the doors in the last couple weeks. I love how the wood-tones, the brass handles, the peekaboo glass all add so much charm to our kitchen.
I know some of you were curious about the size of the pantry so I thought it’s worth mentioning it’s about 7-ft x 3-ft, including the shelves and cabinets. So about 1.5-ft x 5-ft walking space. Plenty of shelves and cabinets for all our food, plus the ceilings are 10ft tall and the shelves go all the way up! It’s amazing how much storage has been packed into the space. Here are the plans from Stoffer Cabinetry.
The 8-1/2 feet tall, solid walnut doors we ordered through Milgard who specialize in glass and doors. We decided against privacy glass and at first I was second guessing that decision, but as soon as they went in–I LOVED the clean look.
Brass Candle Sconces | Pendant
We actually installed these auto light switches in the door jamb, so when the doors open, the pantry light turns on! Subsequently, when the doors close, the light switches off! It’s like the easiest magic trick, and when the lights are off, you can’t really see the inside.
The exterior of the pantry is pine panelling, painted with Stoffer Cabinetry’s Bromley Taupe in their enamel, which gives it a rock hard, professional grade finish. The interior of the pantry is a pretty pop of Stoffer Cabinetry’s Sutton Blue from floor to ceiling.
OXO Containers | Tiered Stand | Spice Jars | Wood Baskets | Glass Canisters | Wood Turntable
The doors just got sealed with a matte Bona finish, and I can’t decide if I’m into it yet. I think they look a little too unfinished and chalky in areas. But we’re close! I would love to see them tie in better with the neighboring ladder which has more of a satin finish.
The cherry on top are these gorgeous brass knobs (still trying to track down the exact link from the door vendor, but this is really similar) which are so chunky and nice to hold. I love how they tie in beautifully with the sconces on either side of the doors.

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Are the study door also walnut from Milgard?
Yes, they’re from Milgard as well.
I love those doors! Where did you get them?
Hi! The doors are from Milgard, which specializes in glass and doors.
Our foursquare was built in 1922 and we have those auto light switches on the closet doors. The builder was ahead of the times!
Finally found these on the trulight website! Totally in love ❤️
I thought the doors were from TruStile? I could have sworn I saw their sticker on the doors as they were brought in.
They are milgard.
in love and have been trying to find the door hardware where did they come from please
If you are happy with the pantry doors and love the clean look but would love privacy for the mess that will eventually happen. #hellokiddos lol,
than have someone come in and tint the glass. You won’t regret it!
