Earlier this week, we got an update that our Stoffer Home Cabinetry will be delivered next Wednesday! (The 27th). Our contractor told us that the install will be about a week and then we will be templating for countertops right after. Even though our appliances are backordered, having cabinetry and a countertop and LIGHTS and a sink feels like complete luxury right now. We can barely wait. That also meant that this week, we had the fun task of picking out our countertops. We knew we wanted soapstone on the island and marble on the perimeter (more on the kitchen plans here), but it’s such a different experience seeing everything in person. The feel. The undertones. Stone shopping is an absolute delight.
In the end, I knew exactly when we saw our stones that they were the one. We went with a very classic Carrara for the perimeter and behind the stove and a vein-y black soapstone for the island. I love the mix of materials. There are tiny green veins in the marble that will tie in perfectly to the island cabinetry and warm taupe-y veins in the perimeter. These tiny little exciting details keep us going through an extended renovation.

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

Honed or polished? My husband swore we’d never do marble in a kitchen again after we moved buttttttt I tricked him into doing it a second time in our current fixer upper whoops! 🙃😬
I think we’re doing honed
When you showed the sneak peaks of the stone on Instagram I thought to myself, “if they don’t use that marble then they have no idea what they’re doing.” LOL PERFECT choice!!!!
Love that soapstone so much!
Oh beautiful choices!!! This is going to be such a stunning kitchen and happy news that the cabinets are coming soon! Thank you as always for taking us along, can’t wait to see it all come together ❤️
I love both, but that stone for the perimeter is everything!
I have soapstone in my kitchen. I loved the look too. I was so disappointed when I learned how impractical it was. Regular use destroys it. It chips so easily and shows scratches and jar marks (for ex, from twisting open jelly). No one told me this in all my research before purchasing. I’m curious to hear your thoughts and also what your experience is once you’ve lived with it. Thank you!
I can’t wait to see the counters installed! Curious if you also picked out something for the office space kitchenette?
That is the prettiest soapstone!
