After reviewing and ranking duvet inserts and pillow inserts you all spoke up and asked that we test some bed pillows! Here’s the thing though, everybody has different pillow preferences when it comes to sleep so it’s hard to rank. BUT, we couldn’t let you down so we ordered a bunch of highly rated bed pillows and Chris and I have been putting them to the test.
In no particular order, here’s all our thoughts on all the pillows.
I gave this to Chris for his birthday last year and he is absolutely obsessed with it. Chris is very much a side sleeper and the Purple Pillow holds its shape and supports your neck without folding in or collapsing. In the 7 months that he’s had it it hasn’t lost shape one bit. The downside I guess is that it looks like a brick, so it doesn’t look great on a freshly made bed haha. It’s more of an investment pillow, but for how much of our lives we spend sleeping, it could be one of the best investments we ever make.
This pillow came very highly recommended by Becca on our team. It’s very heavy and substantial, and unlike the purple pillow, it’s almost like one solid piece of breathable, gel-like foam. Becca said she’s had hers for over a year and it has held its shape perfectly.
The Amazon reviews for this set of 2 pillows is wild. It has over 185,000 reviews with an average rating of 4.4. While it does seem like a great pillow, and I can see that for the price it’s a great value, but it doesn’t even come close to the Purple Pillow or Tuft & Needle. It’s just not very dense and I can see that it’s not going to hold its shape very well.
I would say this is the budget version of the purple pillow. It has a very similar shape –firm but not hard, keeps cool and is great for a side sleeper. Tristan actually has this one and loves it.
This is what we have in the guest house right now and I would say this is a really universally safe pillow for guests. It’s not nearly as substantial as the other pillows, but since it’s not getting daily use in the guest house, it works just fine!
Okay I am telling you, I love this pillow. Out of all the pillows, this is the one I’m keeping on my side of the bed. It has over 50,000 reviews and I just love how dense it is, while also feeling like a fluffy cloud. It also comes overstuffed with these shredded foam pieces and you can take out the fill to your preference.
These pillows are probably going to look the best on your bed. They’re filled with down-alternative, and are categorized as “firm,” but after trying out the firmer foam or gel pillows, I wouldn’t say this holds up. Now for someone who doesn’t love a firm pillow, this might be the one for you – fluffy and light.
Similar to the Coop, this shredded foam pillow is substantial and cloud-like. I will say, this pillow seems to be chunkier than the Coop, but it’s also lighter on the wallet.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

We recently painted our study a dark, moody green color. This is after we first painted it a muddy green, then repainted it a blue-gray. I guess what they say is true; third time’s a charm! The journey was worth it, though, because I’m so in love with this glossy green in contrast with the […]

Casper is the best bed pillow!
We have been using the Beckham Hotel pillows for awhile now and it’s my favorite pillow that I’ve had maybe ever. It’s great. I’m a side sleeper and it’s just perfect. Fluffy but still squishy and firm enough to keep my neck thrilled without feeling like I’m sleeping in a brick. And have had zero issue with it holding its shape and it looks great in our pillowcases! We love them. 100% recommend.
I’m about a week into trying out Marlow pillows (Brooklinen’s pillow brand) and so far I am really enjoying them! A bonus was that they were reasonably priced for 2 and they had a coupon code. The true test for me will be whether they last long-term or flatten out within the year.
Hm I really dislike heavy or blocky pillows. Love my Tuft and Needle original (it’s a down alternative I believe) which is going strong after 7 months. I’m a side sleeper and it supports well and doesn’t collapse in the middle easily, plus can be reformed/refluffed with a few punches every week or so.
I bought the Coop Travel Pillow for…travel! Loved it so much I use it every night and didn’t even buy the bigger one! (I’m a stomach sleeper).
I’ve been using MyPillow pillows for years (long before anyone knew who the owner was 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️). Say what you will about the owner of the company, but the pillows are fantastic.
I bought my husband a NIGHT brand pillow a few years ago, and I’m think I’m going to order one for myself. It’s so good!!
I have the coop pillow. I’m only 5ft so prefer thinner pillows. I actually removed so much of the foam that I could totally combine it with the spare foam to create a second pillow! It’s definitely comfy, though I think I need a slightly smaller case since I removed so much foam.
