With the recent completion of both the study in our house and our commercial team office, I’ve got workspaces on my mind! There’s nothing like a fresh space to get you excited about clearing out the things that have been piling up to make room for the desk accessories you actually use and love!–Which is exactly what we’ve all been doing. I asked everyone on the team to share the favorite thing they keep in or on their desk, and they delivered!
Since the content we create is surrounding our home, I have blocks of time throughout the week that I’m at home creating content, connecting with all of you, meeting with contractors, and DIYing projects. But I also have blocks that I spend in the office space just down the street from our house. It’s no big deal to zip over there, and I have found that breaking up my days a bit helps keep me productive!
You might notice our team has grown a bit in size which is very exciting for us! In showing everyone’s favorite desk item, you’ll get a glimpse into their personalities, plus they make the best recommendations.
“I love having something green on my desk to take care of and keep me company. I usually buy houseplants from my local nurseries, but when I’m looking for something specific, and a cute planter, I love ordering from The Sill. You can’t go wrong with a philodendron for a desk, and they make great beginner plants!”
– Missy (Editorial Manager)
“These have been my favorite pens ever since I watched ‘Ghostwriter’ as a kid. I’m an avid note-taker and list-maker, and I never switch up my pen. Tried and true.”
– Victoria (Brand Manager)
“A good-smelling candle is practically all I need to keep me company while I work, and this scent does not disappoint.”
– Brooke (Affiliate Marketing Manager)
“I gotta give a shout-out to my chiropractor for this suggestion. This stand is super affordable and has definitely made being on my laptop all day more comfortable overall.”
– Becca (Good Influencer Manager)
“I get most of my work done from the study, and this leather desk mat is a luxury I didn’t even know I needed.”
– Chris
“I am editing videos and looking for audio to use almost every day, so having my AirPods close to me at all times is a must – especially when working around other people and needing to block out distractions.”
– Chloe (Good Influencer Social Media Manager)
“I love a classic, quality notebook. It makes me want to take notes which, turns out, is really useful. It’s one of the few things that has a permanent place on my desk.”
– Brandon (Partnership Manager)
“I looove the feeling of multi-tasking, and this 3-in-1 charger takes it to another level. After lunch, I usually set down my phone and AirPods for an afternoon charge, and I’m set. Love how portable it is!”
– Andi (Visual Media Head)
“Who knew you could get a little boost of dopamine every time you threw something in the trash? I keep this waste bin in the study, but everybody on the team has their own personal gold trash cans at their desk, which are also so pretty.”
– Julia
“Talk about productivity! The minute I flip this little cube timer on (the timer is set to whichever side is facing up), I get to work. It helps me so much to have a definitive start and end time for certain tasks.”
– Maggie (Affiliate Marketing Specialist)
“I love having a coaster because I alwaysss have a drink at my desk, and my mother raised me well.”
– Anna (Social Media Intern)
“A pretty bowl stacked atop a pile of books is not only beautiful but functional! If you don’t have a little catchall dish to contain the little things, your desk surface can get messy quickly. Hi. It’s me.”
– Julia
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Hi! I was wondering the rug you have in your office would be able to be used as a stair runner (or if it was too thick)? Thanks!!
I have such an attachment to those flair pens. Every time I visited my dad at work when I was a kid, he had two of them (or their precursors – not really sure, but they were definitely the same shape, felt tip, with a cap) always red ink, in his shirt pocket.
Love those memories, and I always feel connected to him when I use those pens.
LOVE the flip timer cube suggestion and have just ordered one !
