There’s one gift me and all of my girlfriends asked for for Christmas–A Dyson cordless vacuum. We’ve had a big upright ball Dyson for a couple years and then right before Thanksgiving, we brought it up to the cabin and forgot it–conveniently the same weekend we were having a bunch of people over for friendsgiving. I panicked–I have a big hairy dog! I can’t not vacuum! Chris ran to the store to pick up a stick vacuum and while the convenience was so nice, I realized very quickly, the suction and power of a Dyson cannot be beat, especially for our home (we need it). I’m converted. Right then I said, let’s look for a Dyson vacuum—cordless!–on Black Friday.

Black Friday came and I bought myself a new Dyson cordless vacuum (I found the best price on Ebay in their Dyson Outlet Store!) and put a big fat bow on it for one minute before I started using it. A lot of people ask me how I keep my house so clean with a big dog and three kids and I’m convinced it has to be convenient and fast and efficient. Over the last few weeks, this cordless Dyson has proved to be all those things. No more winding up a cord or moving the plug as I switch rooms. No going over areas multiple times to get up all the hair. It’s just so fast to clean up a quick mess or a rogue hairball.

Earlier this year, I bought a handheld Dyson for my car and then used it so much around the house, it barely ever saw the inside of my car. But the stick vacuums are convertible to handheld (how did I not even know that!?) So I actually feel like I got two gifts in one. (sorry about all the hair…I wasn’t kidding)

If you are thinking about gifting a Dyson vacuum (handheld, cordless, canister or upright!), or a blow dryer or a desk fan or any of their other top rated products, it’s not too late. eBay’s shipping is super fast and the majority of products ship for free in under 2 days. Almost everything I buy, I check eBay to see if they have it for a better price and they almost always do.

Our new vacuum lives in the garage, right off the laundry room where it automatically charges when it’s not in use. If all that doesn’t sound like a Merry Christmas, I don’t know what would!

Here are a few of my picks from the Dyson outlet on eBay if you’re looking for a great gift!

What do you think?

First off I want to say that I love your blog and think you are so talented. I am had a lot of success with things you recommend but the Ebay Dyson Outlet would definitely not be one of them. After seeing your post in August about the handheld Dyson vacum, I immediately went to the eBay Dyson Oulet page and purchased the cordless V7 vacum and a fan. The vacum arrived but did not work. Literally would not turn on. I contacted The Dyson Outlet and they said they could not “issue a refund or send a new working vacum”. The fan on the other hand never even arrived. I contacted them to inquire why it had not arrived and they said that “it is past the time that they can issue a refund and they are out of that product”. Their “excuses” contradict each other. I am still in a dispute with them through American Express to get my hundreds of dollars back. My friend had a similar situation with her vacum, when it arrived it had no handle. They have yet to issue her a refund or send the part.
Just thought you should know what the company you are recommending is really like. I know in no way you are responsible for this outcome and their shady business tactics.
Keep doing what you are doing, I love all your content (except Dyson Outlet ????)

I have one too and I love it but I don’t know what to do with all the attachments! How do you organize yours so it’s not just a cluttered mess?

  3. Jen says:

I have been researching vacuums , so I read a few of your posts. I am a little confused because In April last year you said you probably would not buy a Dyson again, that they are cheaply made, and that you would be getting a new shark. Now that it is sponsored, you love it. Have you changed your mind? Do you prefer the Dyson or the shark? I will be honest it is confusing for readers when you say one thing when you purchase an item yourself, and another when it is provided for you :

    • Julia says:

Dyson didn’t sponsor this post and has nothing to do with it. And the big ball one we have, although it doesn’t adjust as smoothly, sucks really really well. We purchased this Dyson cordless with our own money and it is amazing!

I think my favorite thing is when you review things like this, I hate doing the research so just go by your reviews, i’m about to buy this, it’s now $189!

  5. Candace says:

I never talked about vacuums until I got a dyson… seriously, it’s the subject of poetry.

My husband made an awesome wood-mount for the accessories! See if this works… https://www.instagram.com/p/BmrjvtQn1JjU3HCGOlz3r2IKUqt0iRIdLBGn9Y0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

  6. Mary says:

I do like my cordless Dyson, but all your girlfriends wanted vacuums for Christmas?!?! ;-)

  7. Meghan says:

I have the most random question- what was the board book you bought for Polly before she was born? It was really sweet, I think you showed it on IG and I can’t remember the name…

  8. Traci says:

I am interested in getting the cordless. Unfortunately, you do have to be careful with these vacuums with Berber carpet because the suction is so strong. I learned my lesson with my ball.

Off topic, did you guys put up the beds yet? I would love to hear how you feel about them or see a pic on the gram of them.

  9. JL says:

I love my cordless Dyson. It’s absolutely as effective, if not more so, than the plug in. Dyson has actually stopped producing vacuums that plug-in! I don’t know which feature is my favorite. It’s fast, easy, effective, and my kids can use it. Bought mine from QVC – never thought I’d use all the attachments. But I was wrong. I have used almost every attachment that it came with. I love my Dyson.

  10. Jennifer Goodson says:

I got one a couple years ago and I use it everyday!! We just built a small cabin and I have one under the tree to have there. Best gift to myself.

  11. Grace says:

I’ve been hinting to my husband I want a Dyson! I’m hoping he got me one because he told me not to check our credit card statement ;) I’m curious, though, do you not use your Bissell pet vacuum anymore? I’ve been interested in both since your post a few months ago. Thanks!

    • Julia says:

I love that for wet/dry messes. This is so gross, but the cereal spills, under the dog bowl and we have used it a handful of times to clean up vomit (so sorry! tmi!) because it handles those wet messes so perfect.

  12. Amy says:

I used to clean for a couple that had this vacuum and it’s been on my list ever since!! We just moved into our newly remodeled (almost finished) house, and I will definitely bet getting one of these soon. The option to switch to hand held is one of my favorite features :)

  13. Sarah says:

I also got this vacuum a couple of months ago, dare I say it almost makes vacuuming fun. I too have two huge dogs. It actually does a better job than my central vac.

  14. Caitlin says:

A brief caveat emptor for this post: Dyson *WILL NOT* honour warrantees on purchases through their own eBay store. I have this cordless vacuum and loved it, except a few things have broken through heavy use or didn’t properly work from the beginning. “No problem,” I thought, “it’s Dyson! They have such a great reputation and we have a two year warranty from registering on their site.” Well, fast forward to trying to get them to honour that warranty and it’s been a nightmare :( They insist that Dyson eBay is a separate entity and warranty claims must go through them; Dyson eBay only offers a one year warranty (we’re at 14 months); and I’m left with a terribly expensive vacuum that doesn’t work.
I’ve followed your blog for years and don’t want you (or your readers) burned like I’ve been!

    • Beth says:

Hey Caitlin, sounds frustrating! Did you purchase with a credit card? Some credit card purchases extended warranties by a year – Discover does! You just have to call the credit card company and fill out some paperwork.

  15. Jessica says:

Loooove that picture of you and willow, so cute!

  16. Lisa says:

I’ve found the best prices on new cordless Dyson vacuums on QVC, of all places (example: the V10 Cyclone Animal for $399). And their cordless Dyson vacuums typically come with multiple (8-10) attachments. I’m in no way affiliated with QVC- just impressed with their Dyson prices!
