When the weather starts to change, I love transitioning little “moments” in our house to fall. Last week, the bonus room had its own moment, and today, it’s all about the kitchen! – Which happens to be the *most* fun room in which to welcome autumn because the “decor” can actually be edible. Read on for my tips on decorating the kitchen for fall with ease — and stop scrolling when you get to Chris’s famous snack mix (I always do).
Charcuterie Board | Dish Towel | Candle | Apples | Wood Bowl | Pears | Off-White Pumpkin | Beige Pumpkin | Gray Speckled Pumpkin | Green Speckled Pumpkin | Red Speckled Pumpkin | Orange Pumpkin | Raw Wood Bowl
The easiest part of all: I shopped all of this fall goodness on the Walmart app and had it all delivered for free with my Walmart+ membership. This membership helps to save us on everything you’d expect (candy corn) plus the things we wouldn’t expect (I had a pretty charcuterie board delivered!). If you’re not already a member, sign up for free for 30 days. And then put these pumpkins in your cart…
Swap out the faux artichokes and summer citrus for gorgeous gourds. I scored all of these faux pumpkins from Walmart, and the color palette is matte and muted and moody. (Plus — they’re lovely little “space fillers” for shelves that just *need something*.)
Apples | Glass Pumpkin Jar | Candy Corn | Honey Roasted Peanuts | Honey Roasted Almonds
A bowl of apples gives a pop of color, and they’re also so seasonal and delicious this time of year. We love replenishing this bowl, so apple snacks are encouraged on the daily. (Especially as we near cold/flu season. Something about an apple a day…)
This Candy Corn Snack Mix is my weakness. I can’t even walk into the kitchen without grabbing a handful. It’s salty and sweet and looks very Trick-or-Treat sitting on the counter. In a handsome glass pumpkin, it feels fancy.
P.S. A bowl of pears can look rather painterly, too.
Ceramic Pumpkin Jar | Faux Pumpkin | Pumpkin Spice Candle | Pedestal Bowl | Pears | Fall Cookbooks
Another easy “decorating the kitchen for fall” tip is to pull out all of the seasonal cookbooks. Grab everything you have on sauces and stews — all of those savory comfort foods and pumpkin-y desserts. Stack them with an autumnal candle and a chic ceramic harvest jar. (Spoiler: There’s more candy corn mix in there.)
Charcuterie Board | Apples | Candle | Striped Dish Towel
I got these sweet striped dish towels in a pack of three! I hung one over the oven handle and one over Chris’s shoulder :) The black and white feels like fall to me, and this Red Apple & Cedar candle is a whole vibe. It’s fresh and cider-y without smelling too sweet.
One more note about edible decor: Make sure you stock up on caramel to go with all of your apples. You’ll go through them twice as fast.
Become a Walmart+ member and save with free delivery, plus discounts on gas, and even a Paramount+ subscription included (Essential plan only. Separate registration required).
I’ve linked some of my favorite fall decor pieces found in the Walmart app, and with your Walmart+ membership, you can add them to your cart, along with your groceries, and get everything delivered in a jiffy. Happy Fall!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
