Any time the weather changes, I’m ready for a new home scent to welcome in the season. It’s a way to reset your mind and the way the space feels when you have a fresh home fragrance!
Of course when I’m looking for a way to infuse my house with a lovely scent, I always turn to Pura. They have an incredible assortment of fragrances that you can simply pop into the smart diffuser and enjoy. Plus they’re always adding new ones, which is why I decided to sample a bunch for you today!
It’s so smart how Pura lets you control the output of the scent from your phone in case you’re more sensitive to fragrance. You can find out more about how it works in our fall scent round-up. Let’s just say I’m obsessed.
I like to have a signature scent for my house that isn’t so common. I don’t want people to be able to pinpoint the fragrance! So I sampled 26 Pura scents to see which ones rose to the top for spring. (Spoiler: Some I love year-round and just had to include).
When it comes to my favorite scents, I always gravitate toward a bergamot or fig scent for those earthy undertones. I’m not big on pure vanilla, but there are some nice ones out there that have vanilla as the supporting character. An amber and floral scent can be lovely as long as it ventures into the more musky territory and not the saccharine or fruity.
With that in mind, see which 10 spring scents made the cut below!
Oh I love this Palo Santo and Sage scent by Paddywax. This is maybe my new favorite. And I can already tell I’m going to be putting this in my whole first floor. It smells like Joshua Tree when it just rained, it’s warm outside, the sun is shining, and you have some tanning lotion on. It’s sooooo good.
Big Sky by Abbott is just incredible. Really similar to the Palo Santo. Just so fresh — it evokes rain. There is some velvet in there with the bergamot and amber. I love this one. It’s definitely one of my top picks for spring.
This Gone Hiking by Homesick is so good. It smells like pine and leather. Love the really fresh cedarwood and sandalwood undertones with some jasmine in there. I’d call this a sleeper pick; it’s in my top 3!
Afternoon Retreat by Bridgewater Candle Company smells like an expensive grandma or the lobby of a boutique hotel. There’s a heritage there. It’s like heirloom quality — this feels like a signature scent. Of course it has amber and bergamot — two of my favorite notes — along with a lovely sandalwood essence.
I can’t get away from my love of figs! Santorini from Brooklyn Candle Studio has a beautiful Mediterranean feel to it. This one has a beautiful earthy note with amber and sandalwood. You just can’t go wrong with this scent.
Ah, Taft. I can’t not include one from them. Eden No. 1 from Taft is a best-seller for a reason. This smells like an expensive salon at evening. You’re the last one in there and they’re catering just to you. Here’s that bergamot again — I just can’t get enough. But the jasmine and leather notes really make this so sophisticated.
Sweet Grace by Bridgewater Candle Company is a little powdery at first, but it smells like an expensive hotel you’d walk into. The more I smell this, the more I like it. This one smells of passionfruit, sparkling tea and patchouli.
A tried-and-true mention goes to Fig Tree, one of my all-time favorites that I’ve mentioned many times before. It’s sweet and woody with a little warmth to it. It’s just a year-round classic that feels like home to me. I love the herbal fig top notes with the green and musk essences.
Imagine walking into a French floral shop — that’s this fragrance! Verb by Ellis Brooklyn has that zesty scent with notes of mandarin, basil and cedarwood that’s very fresh and feels bright and youthful. Would be sweet in a little girl’s room or even in a kitchen.
If you’re going to pick another one from Brooklyn Candle Studio, I think it should be Maui for spring. It has a nice woodsy orange quality. The scent reminds me of when you have the house to yourself during a blissful afternoon. That bergamot, it smells just so fresh.
Hope this helps you in your quest to find a new spring scent to refresh your home! Which one will you be trying?
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
