There are dresses for different occasions. I wear one to church. I wear one to a nice dinner. But I always feel like I’m willing to spend the least on a nice dress. I’d rather spend it on a good pair of jeans because I’ll wear them all the time. Or shoes. But I think I was missing out.

Last year I invested in a red dress from Doen (now sold out in red, unfortunately), and it seems like every occasion I’m reaching for that dress. Once you realize the power of a good dress in your arsenal, you’ll never regret it. I have my eye on some of these looks below — they all feel like they could become my next iconic dress.

The wonderful thing about dresses for spring is that they can be dressed up or dressed down. Dresses with a cute pair of sneakers and you’re ready for a Saturday of thrifting. Or pair a dress with heels and you’re going to brunch or a baby shower.
Of course a lot of people get new dresses for Easter, but I think right now is a good time to get a dress you can wear for multiple occasions. So I’ve rounded up some of my favorite spring dresses below!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

They are beautiful. I’m having a difficult time finding something more modest in the neckline. Is this a trend?
All of these dresses have a similar shape (all of them cinched or tailored in the middle) and appeal to only one body style…yours!
It would have been better and more useful to include multiple styles of dresses that readers could select based on what looks good on them.
I wear dresses most of the year on a daily basis, anytime I leave the house. To me they are the most comfortable type of clothing. I only wear jeans when the weather is cooler, because adding tights ruins the comfort of a dress. Unfortunately, my size is currently not stable so I probably wouldn’t splurge on these choices, but hopefully one day soon!
