My 9-year-old daughter Faye and I have been hunting and hunting for the perfect traditional wallpaper for her room. When I shared the initial mood board, I included a potential wallpaper that I was really drawn to, but as more and more wallpaper samples have arrived (spoiler alert, many samples are free), the direction has changed. And that’s okay! But I wanted to answer a common question I’ve been getting, which is, “Julia, how do you even find all these wallpaper samples?” So let’s get into it.
Something about me: I’ve been saving my favorite wallpapers for years, so when it came to ordering samples for Faye’s room, I had a bunch of online sources in mind, but I also found some new ones in the process. Here are the 28 samples I ordered in hopes of finding “the one.”
Almost immediately, Faye was very drawn to this one, which is actually the same one we had in the home office in our last house, but in a different colorway. Although I, too, really like it, I always like to ask her “why” questions. So far, she’s been really drawn to the blues, just like her mom ;).
One tip I can share is if you’re scrolling Instagram and come across a wallpaper you really like, you can check to see if the source is tagged, or you can toss it into a reverse Google image search and see what pops up.
Through the process of elimination, we took off the samples that were “no’s,” and we did eventually land on a really pretty wallpaper that she is excited to move forward with. It’s #12 in the round-up below but #1 in her heart. Keep scrolling for all of the links, and as I said before, many of these sources offer free samples! I hope you save this post as a resource when you’re hunting for your own wallpaper.

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

We recently painted our study a dark, moody green color. This is after we first painted it a muddy green, then repainted it a blue-gray. I guess what they say is true; third time’s a charm! The journey was worth it, though, because I’m so in love with this glossy green in contrast with the […]

Love your daughters choice. It’s been my favorite for years but I just haven’t had the right place to put it. Can’t wait to see how her room finishes out.
This is so helpful & I will definitely save this post! Faye’s room will be beautiful!
Just wanted to share my college classmate’s handmade wallpaper and tiles: https://growhousegrow.com/shop/
It’s all so unique and fun.
The first wallpaper, Scandinavian – Trädgårdsstaden 4175, stole my heart. You MUST find a place for it somewhere!
I don’ t know if other people have this problem, but your posts are often cut off before the end of the post. It seems to be connected to the number of pictures. I am viewing on a new iPad, so I don’t think my tablet is the issue. Just letting you know because sometimes I really want to read the whole thing! Cheers, Brenda
Thanks Brenda! We’re working to get this resolved.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Much appreciated.
