Friday, we left you with our finished and hung shelves:
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

The next project we’re checking off our 2023 project list is the mudroom! This used to be the laundry room until we built out a much bigger, better laundry room upstairs. So, in the meantime, this space has been exclusively Cricket’s room. Cricket will still have a special space here, but we’re transforming this dingy […]

Your finished shelves are beautiful!!! I found your blog by searching for stained Douglas fir, very helpful indeed. Thank you!
I have a question, it appears your shelves are floating shelves, if they are would you please tell me what you used?
Thanks a bunch!
We used small, unseen metal brackets attached from the back and underneath.
[…] is sometimes hard to understand how everything is laid out from photos. This photo was taken from the reading room. The front door is to the left right outside the room and the living room to the right. […]

Beautiful room! Just the green color Is just what I have been looking to paint my dining room. Mind sharing the name of the color you used
Thanks Sarah! It’s actually a custom color. I included the formula in this blog post: https://www.chrislovesjulia.com/2013/10/reading-room-green.html
The room looks like it’s out of a magazine, and you have one beautiful family. Have a blessed holiday!
I can’t believe how quickly this room came together. Love the look of wooden shelves. Merry Christmas!
Oh my goodness! Those shelves look amazing! I love it all!
I LOVE how you styled it. You have such an amazing touch.
Yowza – this looks outstanding!!! Excellent styling job, too. It would take me months to style shelves like that, haha! And you have a gorgeous family :)
It looks amazing! I love that coffee table in there too- its the perfect size
One. Your family is gorgeous!
Two. I am usually the biggest hater of carpet but I actually think I like it in this room. When I saw you were going to rip it up, I was surprised that I was against it. The carpet makes the room so cozy! But I guess hardwood floors with a big fluffy rug could do the same :)
The carpet throughout the whole house is not in really bad shape, but you’re right–it does provide a calming feeling in here. We’ll have to find a cozy (under foot and color-wise) area rug to lay down for sure.
What a perfectly gifted family of gorgeous women. Seriously.
