I feel like I am bobbing my head trying to stay afloat over here. I’ve taken on a lot of side projects and assignments (and in the meantime, feel like I really found my calling in life!). It’s an exciting and a little bit stressful time in my life, but I always feel at home when I am at my computer blogging. Late at night, for the past several weeks, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect rug for our bedroom and constantly sending Chris links to which he replies “eh” for no or “I dig it” for keep it on the short list. Here’s the short list of six that we’re loving:
If you remember, here’s the bed we decided on (I’ll show you it in our room later this week). I actually ordered one of these rugs last night (not number 5 because $$$$ but also has all my love), but now I am having second thoughts. I hate myself for being so indecisive at times, but I think it is directly related to the amount of money on the line. Have a favorite?
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

My favorite is #1. I am usually drawn to rugs like #1 for bedrooms & rugs like #3 & #6 for living rooms, even though (with kids) that doesn’t make sense & would actually be better the other way around.
I prefer number #3. It look strange and so cool.
It’s never a good thing when you see “Call for pricing” :) I’m sure whatever choice you make will be great!
#1!! I also really like the idea of a soft shag rug to step on right after you wake up. So #4 is my runner up :)
LOVE the first one! I feel like you can never go wrong with a Persian rug.
Love the 1st one! Can’t go wrong with the bold colors and traditional style.
I think for a bedroom with less traffic I would prefer number 4, it looks comfortable and tranquil which is in line with a bedroom and a great neutral color so you can change up your colors easy, easy. No fare you didn’t say what new adventures you are taking on and what your calling is. Care to share?
That’s the one I ordered! For all the reasons you said. Haha. Thanks for the extra confidence boost in my choice. I have been working more for other companies (like Houzz) which has been great. But, I am also trying to get my foot in the door in the home staging business and having an absolute blast. I’ll share more details soon, I’m sure.
Great minds think alike ha! Great choice. Good luck with the home staging, sounds like fun. Miss you blogging more around here. But now I see why.
I was just coming on to say that my pick is #4, and I see now that’s the one you ordered. Awesome! Can’t wait to hear how you like it (and see pics). I think it’s gorgeous (though I’m sure you’d make any of them look beautiful in your space). Plus, West Elm is great, in my experience.
PS: I also have to say that, unfortunately, now I sort of want #4 for our living room… Unfortunate only because we definitely do not need a new rug. :-) We recently bought one that I also really love, but gosh that rug you just ordered looks good in the pic on the West Elm link with the couch (which is similar in color to our couch). Anyhow, hope you love it! I bet it will be gorgeous!!!
Thank you Summer! I really think it what was best for our room color wise, and texture wise. We really wanted something super soft underfoot. I can’t wait to see it in person!
So exciting. Ugh my head would be spinning with those options. All so beautiful. Do you feel just a smidge like Kaitlyn, the bachelorette? Such beautiful choices. All so different. How do you choose???!!!! Can’t wait to see which one got the final rose.
Corine!! I can’t wait to find a minute to watch it!
I love number 1, and that pattern hides anything! That being said, you have great style and shouldn’t second guess yourself. If you and Chris both like it then you did well! Can’t wait to see the finished space!!
