As the holidays roll in, Chris, our in-home cook and dedicated foodie, has been hard at work, not just at the stove but also helping me compile a list of gifts for fellow food lovers. His hands-on kitchen experience has been invaluable in picking out the kind of gear that goes beyond the novelty and steps into the realm of everyday essentials. We’re talking about the kind of stuff that serious cooks will actually use, appreciate, and wonder how they ever went without. So, if you’re on the hunt for a gift that’ll earn a nod of approval from the food enthusiast in your life, stay tuned.
For the person who exclusively uses fresh herbs in their cooking (ahem, Chris), gift them this countertop hydroponic herb garden so they can always have fresh herbs at their fingertips. (It works incredibly fast and has been fun for our whole family, honestly!)
One thing I’ve noticed from being married to an avid recipe-maker and food experimenter is that a pinch of salt from a salt cellar is preferred over a salt shaker. Apparently, it’s easier to control the amount of salt used!
You heard it here first: the resident foodie can’t ever have too many wooden bowls. These hand-carved traditional-style bowls will add so much charm to any kitchen or dish.
This Chef’s cutting board has over 13,000 4.7-star reviews and is said to be highly durable. I don’t think it can be beat, especially at that price point. Chris loves the large size of it, too.
This Yellowbird hot sauce is Chris’s favorite hot sauce brand. Not only are they delicious, but they’re all made from organic ingredients, and they’re gluten-free and have no added sugars.
Chris exclusively uses a pepper grinder when he cooks. It’s always going to be better than any pre-ground pepper flakes, and this mill is the perfect grinder for the job.
Chris discovered this brand of olive oils, and he swears their flavors are the best he’s tried. The olives are sourced from family-run farms, and they’re cold-pressed within 90 minutes of harvest for the freshest taste and quality.
This gorgeous five-piece set has everything you need to grill, cook, and bake all at once, and whoever receives this as a gift is going to be one lucky home chef.
I cannot believe the price of this 10-piece wooden spoon set. Chris, almost exclusively, cooks with wooden utensils because they’re so friendly to non-stick pans and cookware, plus they feel so traditional to use.
We have a few hand-made goods from this family-owned shop on Amazon, and I don’t have enough good things to say about the quality of their pieces. This stoneware bowl is so charming, and it’s priced incredibly well for its’ generous size.
Gift this handmade recipe book to the recipe-maker and food experimenter in your life, and their day will be made.
Psst: I’m planning to gift this gorgeous marble cookbook stand to Chris for Christmas. He can prop up any cookbook, but mostly, I see him using it for his own recipe book.
A black leather edition by the legend herself, Julia Child. This culinary cookbook on mastering French cuisine will be consumed by food lovers alike and appreciated greatly by whoever receives it.
Have you ever seen a prettier spice rack? This is the only spice rack suitable for leaving out on display, either on the countertop or mounted to the wall.
If you want to spoil the home chef in your life completely, get them this heavy-duty 6-quart Dutch oven and they’ll thank you forever.
According to Chris, if you have a little more room in your budget and want to gift a knife set that’s really something special, the Shun is hard to beat.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

It’s been over a year since we started designing our bathroom. We were working with Unique Kitchens and Baths for the cabinetry, and they came up with two different layouts. We selected one, tweaked it a bit and chose a lot of the finishes…annnnnd honestly we could never quite give the final “go ahead.” This […]
