Wicker home decor is in no way new, however, more and more, I’m seeing it become a versatile material in all home styles! It used to be associated strictly with coastal, and more recently, it’s been used in the boho style, but now we’re starting to see it in all kinds of home styles, including traditional and modern. And in the wicker home decor category, I’m specifically seeing wicker lamps everywhere, including our new office space!

Recently our team moved out of our temporary office space and into the newly renovated permanent space. I’ve shared bits and pieces on Instagram, but I guess this is how I’m breaking the news to all of you on the blog! We’re still tying up bits and pieces before the official reveal, but I thought I would give you a little sneak peek and also show off this corner in the team space.

I styled this stunning work of art on the media stand, and my jaw is on the floor. The cone shaped wicker shade, in contrast with the green ceramic lamp, adds so much interesting visual texture–my heart can hardly take it!

I also put a super cute, affordable one from Target in the office kitchenette that I can’t wait to show you.

Wicker vs. Rattan?

It’s worth addressing the difference between wicker and rattan! Rattan is actually a material, and wicker refers to the method of weaving. Rattan can be woven in the wicker method, but so can other materials like seagrass and hyacinth. Overall, I don’t know if I could spot the differences in materials and methods without referencing some sort of diagram, so forgive me for using the terms interchangeably! Whatever you choose to call these stunning scalloped shades in Greta’s room, I think they add some overall warmth and interest.

A Wicker Lamp Base or Shade

In Polly’s room, I have a lamp with a wicker base rather than a shade, and I don’t think you can go wrong with either! Mixing up materials is my favorite way to make a room feel more interesting yet cohesive with the other elements in the room!
