When we first started adjusting our diets for Julia’s restrictions, I was constantly trying to find things that I could use to make food taste exactly like it did before. But over the years, we’ve come to approach it a bit more mindfully. We’re not just making substitutions in order to achieve a similar result, but we’re eating better — and the food tastes better, too. And over the years, several products and brands have become staples in my kitchen, because of how great they taste, and how easily they fit into our diets and lifestyle. EPIC Provisions is definitely one of those brands.
Wood Serve Board | Dish Towel | Copper Pots
The first product I ever tried from EPIC Provisions was a bison meat bar with cranberries, and it had so much flavor and no junk. I loved it so much, and it’s still one of my favorite protein snacks. The first time I did the Keto diet, and realized their pork rinds make amazing nachos. When we transitioned to cooking without dairy, I bought a jar of their duck fat and added it to some broccoli. It was such a hit with everyone in our family, and now I always make sure I have a jar in the fridge and one waiting in the pantry so I’m never without.
In addition to being a huge proponent of their products, I really just love the mission of the brand: a strong focus on working to improve the lives of animals, using and respecting what they give us to the fullest, and working to promote holistic land management practices that improve soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem function. In fact they’ve partnered with Stripe Climate, and 1% of every purchase on their website goes toward projects aimed at removing C02 from the atmosphere.
I’ve talked at length about how this time of year is my favorite when it comes to food and flavor, and animal proteins are a large part of that. Turkey, ham, pot roast; sweet potatoes, cranberries, gravy; sage, rosemary, cinnamon. EPIC Provisions has animal fats and bone broths that improve every recipe I add them to, and now is a great time to stock the pantry (code for 20% off at the beginning and end of this post).
This twice-baked potato recipe is exactly what I was talking about earlier: embracing the unique flavors of the products I am using and ending up with something new and incredible. This recipe only requires five ingredients (plus olive oil, salt and pepper) and has been a hit with everyone I’ve given it to — whether they had any sort of diet they were following or not.
Give this recipe a try, for sure, but I also hope you take the chance to stock up on some of EPIC Provisions’ delicious products that will drive you through this tastiest time of year.

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Hi, I guess it should be intact instead of in tact… Anyway, the potatoes look delicious.
