This week’s painting was such a positive experience. It was an emotional and difficult week with this pregnancy and with every brush stroke, I felt myself escaping more and more. It was therapeutic to continue to add layers of pigment and watch the painting transform half a dozen times until this composition showed itself and I got that familiar feeling–this is it.
The colors and brushstrokes felt reminiscent of what it must be like to go night fishing–not that I would actually know. And then Chris said, “I’m pretty sure night fishing is illegal.” (Turns out, with a flashlight, it is.) So the name of this bad-a painting was born.
As a reminder, I will be producing one painting a week and presenting that painting here on Fridays. It will also be available for purchase in my Etsy shop. We schedule our posts to go live first thing in the morning here, but the paintings will mostly be listed late Thursday nights, so to get a first look (or dibs!) at each painting, it wouldn’t be a horrible idea to add the shop to your favorites on Etsy. Happy Weekend, friends!
Update: The original painting has sold, but to purchase high-quality giclee prints (4 different sizes available) click here.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

It’s gorgeous,,I’m going to try to figure out colors you used cause I’m gonna do my best to do this my version. Wish me luck ????????thanks for your inspiration.
Good luck!
Hi did you try this yourself .Im thinking of giving it a go myself .
I wish you shipped to Canada! Love your work.
Any chance of shipping changing soon?
I love this one (well, I love them all, but I love the dark blues in this one the most). I need to be waaaay faster & more alert if I want to scoop one up!
The painting is beautiful…would you ever consider doing a commissioned work? All the best to you and your family as you work on getting more settled into your lovely new home!
In Minnesota you can go fishing at night — bow fishing, that is. And it does look like your painting!
Another vote for prints for this one. It is gorgeous and captivating.
Your paintings are always stunning and full of raw emotion! I can’t wait until I have my own place and can get one that fits my house.
I agree with everyone else, I LOVED this one! Would totally buy a print of it! I think smaller canvases would be fun, too.
Julia- No surprise it sold so quickly. All your work is beautiful, but this one is captivating. Something about the colors and design that makes the art electrifying. Please start making prints also!!
This is so so nice. I feel like the luckiest girl right now. So happy you are doing this for you and for us!
So enjoying your work! You can’t seem to paint them fast enough. Hoping to snag some of your work soon.
Would also be interested in buying prints, since the originals seem to sell before I even wake up! They’re beautiful.
Going off of the previous comment – would you ever consider selling prints of your paintings? I’m so sad your latest two paintings sold so quickly!
I’ve considered it and have had that request quite a bit in the last couple weeks. I have to look into a few things–but it’s a possibility! Thanks for being so eager, Liz!
Yes! I’d love to get a print of this one.
Ditto! I instantly fell in LOVE with this painting and would love to get my hands on a print!
agreed! I would purchase a print in a heartbeat as well! OF THE LAST TWO paintings!
YES! Brilliant idea. I fully support this.
Your new paintings are selling almost as soon as you’re posting them!!! So exciting. Would you ever consider doing mini canvas paintings, like the tiny ones 2×2? I would totally put magnets on the back and put them on my fridge.
What a cute idea! I am looking into giclee prints and other sizes. It’ll be fun to see the project evolve over the year. :)
