The Little Black Swimsuit

Is there anything more classic than the little black swimsuit? From the viral Hunza G to the corset-style TA3, see our favorite flattering swimwear picks for 2026.

I love a good pattern and color for swimwear, but if I’m going to have only one piece in my collection, it’s going to be a black swimsuit. It’s universally flattering. It commands attention. You can dress it up and dress it down. A black swimsuit is a classic for a reason!

Hunza G Black One Piece

We went on a fun retreat with our team a few years ago and met up on the beach. Every girl showed up in a black swimsuit — completely unplanned. It was just synchronicity.

Two of my favorites are investment pieces, but you can find ones for every budget. I have one from TA3 Swim (similar) that is a corset style, and when you cinch it in you get this amazing hourglass shape (a blessing for my more straight figure). I feel so good in that swimsuit.

On the other end of the sizing spectrum, I have a Hunza G swimsuit that is literally a one-size-fits-all style. I’ve never seen anyone look bad in this suit. In fact, I have it in three colors because it’s so comfortable. You’ll want to do the same after you’ve tried it!

Summer is coming up, and it is the perfect time to set off your tan with a black swimsuit. I’m always packing one of these if there’s a pool or beach in our sights!

So if you don’t have one in your repertoire, this is your sign to add to your collection before your next getaway. Check out some of my picks for the perfect LBS below, fresh for this season.

  1. Julia, it’s so tricky to find flattering swimsuits! Thank you for sharing such a flattering variety at different price points. Btw, I totally relate to the sweet reference of women as “girls” and refer to the women in my life exactly the same way. Hope y’all enjoy Spring Break!

  2. I wish I could find a flattering and more modest suit for someone my age (65). I’m in decent shape, 5’6″ 125-130 pounds, but I don’t like exposing so much of my body. I used to have a skirted suit years ago (maybe Garnet Hill?) that I loved, but I can’t find anything similar now.

  3. “Every girl showed up in a black swimsuit.” Looking at the photo, I’d say these females look to be adult women. Language is important especially in this day and age. I realize this is your blog and you can post what you like, but please consider your choices. “Every woman showed up wearing a black swimsuit” is a more appropriate choice.

    • Thanks for sharing your take! I use the word ‘girls’ in a very affectionate way, as that’s how I refer to my closest friends and even myself—”I’m a walking girlie.” It’s part of my vernacular.
