Monday we shared lots of photos (and feelings!) about our new home and now that we are officially in–we unloaded the last box at around 11:30pm last night–we wanted to share the very first home tour in our new house! Jordan shot this beautiful tour before all the boxes came in and due to popular request, Chris and I are going to be doing another one for next week where we’ll walk you through each room and talk about what it is, maybe some plans–there will be a ton of boxes, it’s gonna be great.

These tours have become our favorite thing to have and look back on to measure our progress–hope you enjoy this first one and many more to come!

A few notes on our home: It’s on 3.5 acres (our two neighbors are on 10 and 4.5 so it definitely feels like country living) but we are less than 10 minutes from every convenience we could think of. Which is kind of opposite of our last house where we were very close to our neighbors but about 30 minutes from the hardware store–haha. It has 9-10 foot ceilings throughout (besides the living room and entry where they are vaulted which is a dream come true for us tall people. It’s just over 5000 square feet (our last home was 3400), but the rooms are larger and it has a large space off of the entry that we’ll be using as our office so it all feels very manageable and like the perfect size. We’ll share more of our initial ideas next week–so much more to come!

  1. Sooooo cleaning, that’s all I can think about. I know you love to clean Julia! My house is 3600 square feet and there are rooms I don’t see for a week. Do you get house cleaners or do you try and do it yourself?

  2. We were the ones that originally built that house. A lot has changed in it over the last 19 years since we finished it. I am sure you will make it an awesome home.

    • Wow! Wonderful to hear from you! As the newest caretakers of the home you built–I can confidently say we will love her and take care of her and put our own mark on her for many many many years to come. Thanks for building such a beauty!

  3. Oh my goodness I love it! It’s beautiful & I don’t want you to change anything. Also I love your taste & respect your judgment, so I can’t wait to see the changes that you decide to implement. :) Congratulations!

  4. Congratulations! I am so happy & excited for you & your family! I see SO MUCH potential in this house! I’ve already started a mental list of everything I’d alter. ;) I cannot wait to see how you transform this house into your forever home! One question — Are the walls textured? Lastly… Chris — splurge & get a 60” range! I recently completed a two year full gut reno. I love to cook & bake & went with a 48” Wolf, in fear that the 60” would look too commercial. I completely regret it. I was SO excited to finally have two ovens, but the half oven has proved to be not as functional as I imagined, especially when hosting a holiday. Best of luck!!
