Last week on Instagram I shared how I gave my home the post-holiday reset it so badly craves at the end of the year. One of my followers actually commented “no winter decor?” It really got me thinking about seasonal decor and how I’m not typically the kind of person to decorate my home seasonally. I just don’t need my decor to tell me what season it is. I have windows for that. Even for the holidays, I really only decorate for Christmas and occasionally I like to spookify our house for Halloween. That being said, I realized I do love refreshing for every season. Not with something that is so literal, but more with pieces that capture how a season feels or how I want to feel–in winter, that’s cozy and layered and warm.
I want our home to feel like it gives comfort to our family, and to anyone who might stop by and I really think that can be found in the details. Whether you arrange some juniper branches in a vase, fold a plaid blanket over an ottoman, or light a cedar and moss candle, these changes can evolve a space, appeal to the senses and transform a home into a more intimate winter haven.
(Yes! Those 4 ft trees are gonna stay there all winter!) We rounded up some winter decor options for you, because it feels so good to refresh a few things every season. There’s something for every budget really, and I hope this helps fill the gap in from Christmas to Spring for you, too!

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

The next project we’re checking off our 2023 project list is the mudroom! This used to be the laundry room until we built out a much bigger, better laundry room upstairs. So, in the meantime, this space has been exclusively Cricket’s room. Cricket will still have a special space here, but we’re transforming this dingy […]

I love your style! Would you share the color of the exterior paint on your house, please.
It is Graphite by Benjamin Moore!
Love the simplicity, rich in details!
Any advice for your Southern Hemisphere followers currently enjoying summer?☀️
I hope to get to this point, my house always feels so empty after Christmas!
Love this! Seasonal decor that’s a bit more subtle but also more cohesive with your home. Gives you that cozy winter feeling though. Thank you for the inspiration.
I would imagine that you need very little winter decor with that large window and a cold, snowy climate!! I don’t get too into decorating for every holiday/season, so I love your idea of just altering the vibe of your home for the winter so it feels warm and cozy. It looks like the perfect place to curl up with a mug of hot cocoa and watch the snow fall!
Side note: I love the cedar pines you linked and was looking at buying a couple (especially with the great sale price). I noticed they are recommended for indoor use only. How long have you had yours outside? Do they stand up well to weather/being outside?
We have a covered porch, so I’m sure that helps! Been out since late November.
???? Yes to this. A fantastic example of how we each have our own taste, vibe, and ideas of what feels right in our own homes. I don’t typically “decorate” for seasons or even most holidays, but appreciate the creativity of those who do.
