Back in February of 2022, I said (and I quote), “Greta’s room is probably the most under-reported room in our house,” and that still stands true. This certainly isn’t intentional, but I just haven’t been able to give it as much time and attention as it deserves. YET… Here’s how it looked when we moved in over 2 years ago and what it looks like today.
Bedframe | Bench | Rug | Quilt | Waffle Blanket | Cloud Art
What’s funny is we haven’t made an actual plan with Greta’s room like we have with Faye and Polly’s rooms. Upon moving in, we updated the flooring, then shortly after, we painted her walls pink, and little by little, the room has turned out lovely.
Nightstands | Lamps | Lampshades | Curtains
Unfortunately (and not surprisingly), Greta’s over the pink. She’s officially a teenager with teenager taste, so in 2024, I’m anticipating giving Greta a room that “feels” like her regardless of how much I love this darling setup.
These curtains are the latest addition to the room, and I couldn’t be more in love with how they tie the whole room together. In My Formula For Choosing Curtains vs. Shades, I mentioned how sometimes curtains are the finishing touch in the room, which is certainly the case in Greta’s room (at least for this phase 1 renovation). Psst, if you ever want to make a room feel bigger than it is, add striped curtains.
Dresser | Upholstered Chair | Faux Stems | Sister Artwork | Knot Ball Pillows
Are anybody else’s kids obsessed with squishmallows? The girls can’t get enough of them.
And now, for the never-before-seen photograph of Greta’s art corner!
Squiggly Mirror | Pink Cart | White Organizers | Acrylic Shelves | Desk Chair (similar) | Faux Tree
Greta’s our art girl. She loves spending her afterschool hours creating away, which, of course, I love. We actually found this desk on Marketplace, and as you can see, our little artist has put it to good use. I’ll admit, there’s not a lot of legroom, so we’ll need to upgrade at some point, but for now, I’m so proud of how she has filled this space with artwork from her own creative mind.
Unofficially, I’m adding this room to our 2024 project list, but for now, I’ll patiently wait.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
