Hey, we have a video tour for you today! In the past month we have been asked to do a tour several times (welcome to all of our new readers!) and I finally had a few minutes with the house to myself yesterday when Chris took the the girls to lunch. The downside is it was pretty rainy and gloomy yesterday, so the house wasn’t as bright as it usually is, but hopefully it will help you get a better idea of how things are laid out around here.
I talked about a few upcoming plans in the video but I think we should do a post about some overall master house plans soon? Happy weekend to you.
ps. Our very first video tour from when we moved in. What a mess!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Loved the tour and a post with all your plans would be great, for example the living room, are you guys still going to change the couch? Would love to hear how you “see” this space down the road.
I have no idea how your houses function but is there any way to move the laundry downstairs? Maybe in the storage room? I imagine in a year or so, Faye will be sleeping downstairs, and that great family space is gonna be super used, with the tv, toys, maybe a little office for you, so no going all the way to the other side of the house with clean laundry….and you could have an awesome mudroom ;)
I hadn’t thought about that! Hmmmmm.
Fabulous tour… I agree that if I have a big closet, I’d rather not have a dresser. I prefer minimalism when it comes to furniture, especially in a master bedroom. Cozy, simple and uncluttered are my goals for a master.
Does Faye’s room have a closet?
It doesn’t. That’s why we have a dresser in there.
I really enjoyed this video! There was something I noticed about Greta’s room when you decorated it and your master bedroom just now – you do not have a lot of bedroom furniture. Is this your preference or do you just not need it? Even with our dresser and big master closet, my husband still throws his clothes on the floor, so I’m impressed that you keep things so neat!
Well, we haven’t done our bedroom yet, so I am not sure how it is going to end up, but I don’t see the need for a dresser if we have a big closet? I don’t know. I’d rather have a little more space than dodge furniture we don’t really need in the bedroom. But, like I said, we haven’t tackled our room yet.
I definitely understand wanting to keep the room open, especially after growing up in a house with a lot of furniture. My mom thought it was interesting that I purposely didn’t get any more furniture for our room even though we have room.. so yeah :) Thanks again for sharing!
Great video, I love your home and love it more and more as you fix it up. Your love of jewel tones mixed with muted and natural is my jam! :)
I have a home based business and your storage closet would be my idea of heaven!
I love all your artwork! I saw you posted the artwork sites you purchased for your living room. Can you post where you got your bathroom art and the girls art on their walls? Love it! great work!
It looks great. What did you use to film it? Very steady.
Oh thanks. I just used my Canon camera. But Youtube has some technology where they’ll steady the video for you–which is super nice!
Your filming was so steady and smoothe I thought a professional was doing it! Go girl! Your home flows so nicely from room to room. It has come together so beautifully! Can’t wait to visit someday!!
Love what you have done to the place! It looks great. Feels very homey yet so stylish!
this looks great! good job, guys!
