Befores, afters, mood boards, plans, failures, wins. We’ve done a lot of projects, and they’re all here.

We have a long-standing relationship with DIY, and love rolling our sleeves up and making it happen.

Even when you don’t want to rip down a wall, you can make that space in your home better. Right now.

It’s interesting moving into a new house and trying to make your not-so-old (actually pretty new!) furniture work.  Our living room has 99 problems and the coffee table was definitely one. One that we felt like we could address before adding a fireplace and window–which we still hope to do within the year.
The coffee table above was completely dwarfed in this room, so we kept our eyes open for something with a little more…girth.  Found it!
Chris and I were both actively hunting for a coffee table–something chunky but classic.  A little industrial never hurts. I initially eyed this one (the perfect combination of all of those things we were looking for!) in Dana’s Joss & Main sale but was too late in pulling the trigger.  I am a mull-er. We are really trying to put more thought into projects and pieces to make sure it is absolutely something we want. And after a couple days, the sale had ended and we still didn’t find something with the same dimensions and look that fit the bill better than the Beaumont coffee table.  So we ordered it from Wayfair.
The metal legs and ring pulls give it a great industrial touch without feeling cold or out of place in our slightly more traditional home. It’s more than chunky, it weighs a ton!  So I was pleasantly surprised to see that it actually has hidden casters underneath so we can move it around easier if we wanted to.
Probably the only downside about it is it’s oak veneer.  Of course I wish it were actually solid oak, but that would also probably make it at least double the cost, so I guess I’m okay with the veneer.
We used to store a lot of stuff, including remotes and even my glasses, in a basket underneath our “mini” coffee table, but to have drawers-glorious-drawers (!!) is making me feel so organized.  How could we possibly lose the remotes now?  I feel like it’s never going to happen again. #wishfulthinking
Now we’re even more anxious to get a new rug in here.  We love our jute one and it will most likely get scooted to our bedroom once we install hardwood floors, but the sea of brown (brown tile, brown rug, brown coffee table) is practically putting us to sleep and isn’t doing the room too many favors either.  But I am trying to be patient and remember, we’ll get there.

Please tell me how this coffee table is holding up. Any pros, cons, would you purchase it again etc. Thanks a lot in advance.

Beautiful! I love a good coffee table :) Jenn and I fall in love with a new coffee table every month… I always tell her that we should put them in rotation :)

  3. Love the coffee table. It looks hefty and solid, something that will last you for years! We have a new coffee table too, except it’s more of a “new-to-us” find from someone’s trash in our back alley. It needs some fixing up but it’s the perfect size for our space and we love its lines!

Freakin A, I love that coffee table. It has some of the same bones as mine…like maybe your coffee table is my coffee table’s classier, prettier older sister. It’s gorgeous, though, and perfect for that room!

  5. Love that coffee table! It looks great!

  6. That looks great, its something we may be able to use in our family room. Just out of curiosity, the table spec. lists the material of construction as veneers (plywood) and i cant tell from the photos which parts are plywood and which parts are solid. Are the larger panels veneers, or are they solid? Sorry for the geeky question.

    Thanks

  7. I love this! I’m surprised you went with this a little bit, it doesn’t seem like the style you usually go with (clean lines and modern). Don’t get me wrong–this coffee table rocks. We need a coffee table BAD and yes, we are constantly losing our remotes! (esp that little apple tv one! So sleek it just slides into every crack in our couch).

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
