Last year, we bought an artificial tree and all the trimmings. We also got some decorations for the house from our parents and some other family members and friends. The day after Thanksgiving this year, I insisted we bust it all out. I am under doctor’s orders to not be on my feet–so I was Santa’s (Chris’s) helper doing all I could sitting down. I MAY have hung a few ornaments. Once the tree box was empty…something else was too. OUR HOUSE. Where were all the rest of our ornaments and decorations? Meh. After Chris searched our cars and storage a few times we realized we must have left them in storage in Rexburg. So our house isn’t very decorated. I did have a (as in one) Christmas placemat that I put on our dining room table and our tree has some bulbs and lights on it. Overall, I think it looks cold and bare. I do have a Christmas Scentsy candle and Josh Groban’s Noel cd that add some atmosphere. And I think with some snow on the ground, egg nog, and a Christmas sweater we may be able to make up for some other things lacking…afterall, our Christmas cheer is NOT one of those things.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Oh no! Julie…why are you on bed rest? I hope everything’s OK. You know… I decorated our house this year with all of the recycled things from our families too. It’s not that much but it really is your family that makes it Christmas. I uploaded this playlist to my blog too that I play all the time. My Christmas decorations are lame. I hope everythings going Ok. You should make some decorations since you’re off your feet. I made a super cute wreath for like $10 and I posted it on my blog. Just needs a little ribbon.
