Yesterday, I counted down the top five most popular posts of the year, and today I wanted to recognize a few people that really helped our little blog be seen/read this year. While we do get a fair amount of traffic from our own sources (Subscribers, Facebook, Networked blogs, heck–we were even Googled nearly 5000 times this year), a lot of our readership comes from referrals–specifically these top 5 sites and people:
5. Lindsey from Better After. This girl posts incredible before and afters multiple times a day. She has featured two of our projects this year which was a huge honor. You should definitely check out this blog. I am astounded and inspired at the things people can do with junk.
4. Meagan from Meagan Tells All. Meagan is one of my very best friends and is my blogging cheerleader–which, btw, every blogger needs one of those. Her husband is in Law School, they have the cutest little girl, she is at the tail end of a molar pregnancy and she can do amazing things with some fabric and her sewing machine. Fortunately for us, she is also a blogger.
3. Beckie at Knock Off Decor. The entire blog is dedicated to showcasing the amazing work of some seriously talented designers while giving those with less of a budget a chance to mimic them. Definitely something to check out before forking out loads of cash at the stores for something you can DIY. We successfully landed a few spots among those featured on her blog.
2. Pinterest. I am in awe at the traffic source Pinterest has been for us. It is the most rewarding/humbling/crazy thing to see your work pinned. We all love Pinterest. ‘Nough said.
1. John and Sherry from Young House Love. Definitely my favorite blog ever and a huge inspiration to Chris and I as we tackle our own home renovations. I pretty much consider them celebrities, so the fact that they referred around 10,000 readers to our blog this year, makes me blush. Read their blog and be hooked. You won’t regret it.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
