This year has been a growing year for me. I have taken on a lot of extra freelancing and started to work for a big interior-inspiration website nearly full time. About half way through, I was so overjoyed with all of the opportunities but also feeling a little overwhelmed, too. My sister, Victoria, who still lives in my hometown, Pittsburgh, shares a lot of the same passions as I do and I asked her if she would be willing to work for me a few hours a week. She jumped in with both feet and I can’t imagine any of this without her anymore.
I love sending her little surprises in the mail occasionally (I pay her, too, obviously!) because I appreciate her so much. Lowe’s recently came out with a new product I got to preview a few months ago, called Giftables–prepackaged, curated boxes that offer the convenience of getting everything in one box without the scavenger hunt and repeat trips to the store. Each box includes stylish products, tools, steps and tips–and ships for free!
I hopped on their website and sent her the “Patio Zen” box so she could enjoy a night off with added ambiance–there’s no one that enjoys ambiance more than Victoria.
Over the weekend, she texted me this photo:
“This patio is so zen.”
Lowe’s has Giftables for everyone, at any age. You can check out all 11 of their curated boxes that are so diverse and fun to gift–they’re really my new flowers.

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

My comment on this is long overdue! I was so thrilled and excited to receive the Patio Zen box, as I *am* someone who likes to create an “outside moment,” even in cooler weather.
I got to work with my friend, Ashlee, hanging the unique string of Edison bulbs (so much cooler and more industrial that my other outdoor lights). The extension cord and ties that came in the box were immediately useful — such a handy addition. We inserted a real candle in the lantern that came with our kit, but loved the stock of solar candles that were included (we just didn’t have time to charge them before our chic night out). We brought piles of blankets and pillows outside… s’more stuff… and lit the fire pit. It was the best night of the season, so far, and we’re already making plans to take advantage of the outdoor oasis again.
I can’t recommend the all-inclusive box more highly. Thank you, Jules! I felt rewarded and special :)
What a cool idea – I love this so much! :)

I have been seeing curated boxes everywhere. They are such a good idea!
What a cute idea! I had no clue Lowe’s did something like this, but I love it. And that patio looks fabulous!
The link doesn’t work :(
Fixed! Thanks for letting me know, Rebecca.
