I know it might feel like it’s too early to be decorating for Halloween, but actually, Halloween decor is selling out so quickly, and I don’t want you to miss out. Finding “spooky” decor that blends in with your already-lovely home aesthetic, rather than masks, is trickier said than done. So, I thought it would be fun to show you how to create Halloween moments with some not-so-scary decor. Starting with the front door…
I have it on record that I don’t like wreaths (except for Christmastime). This is more of a personal preference than me dictating what you should or shouldn’t hang on your door. But… when I saw this Halloween wreath with tangled twigs and bats, I couldn’t help myself. Don’t expect me to hang a new wreath for each season, but hanging a spooky wreath is an excellent way to transition the front porch from fall to Halloween.
Pumpkins double as fall and Halloween decor, and if you stock up on faux pumpkins, they’ll last you from September through November. Of course, you can’t go wrong with carving jack-o-lanterns, but that’s one of my least favorite activities. Anybody else?
Rather than re-decorating your entire living room, you can spookify the mantle with some ghostly garland and drippy tapered candles. Orange and black are a classic Halloween choice, but all black would be even more moody.

Now, if you look really closely, you might be able to spot some bats drawn on the picture frame glass with an expo marker. This is such a simple, free way to make any framed art haunted, and the good news is it’s not permanent!
Swapping your Frame TV art is the quickest, most cost-effective way to keep up with seasonal and holiday decor. How cute are these ghost portraits? (Tip: Most smart TVs have the capability to display art nowadays, so check your options even if you don’t have the official Frame TV). I’m obsessed with all the haunted art below.
Here are some other “not-so-scary” Halloween decor pieces to add just a touch of eerie throughout your home. Besides decor, another way to get into the Halloween spirit is to by watching some classic Halloween movies. We put together a bucket list of fall and Halloween movies for you to enjoy all season long! Check out the list here.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

The next project we’re checking off our 2023 project list is the mudroom! This used to be the laundry room until we built out a much bigger, better laundry room upstairs. So, in the meantime, this space has been exclusively Cricket’s room. Cricket will still have a special space here, but we’re transforming this dingy […]
