All right, so Jules is completely exhausted and asked me to give y’all an update on the sitch over here (that means “situation”).
Things were just going a little too smoothly, which I think everyone agrees with. We were supposed to close on our house in Utah last Monday – like, almost two weeks ago. The people buying the house were selling some stocks to pay for the house and were confident the money would come in time. Welp, they pulled the trigger on the sale a little late and now we’re stuck waiting for the funds to close on our new house. The good news is we learned yesterday that the money will for sure be wired directly from their brokerage firm to our title company on Tuesday; the title company is going to wire the money to us same day, and we’ll be closing Tuesday afternoon.
Needless to say, we’ve been going a little stir-crazy and Jules has been suffering from some anxiety. We’re so grateful to have family in town that is kind enough to open their homes to us–including Charly. That said, we just really want to get into our new home and settled back into our routine, including getting crackin’ on the projects. We go up to the house and look around at least once a day, and we get giddy just talking about everything we want to do.
We apologize for the lack of posts lately. We’ll probably be taking the next couple days off as well–until we close. Blogging is a favorite hobby of ours, and has turned into this awesome way to meet new people and share what’s happening with us. So as much as we try to stick to the posting schedule (and have been missing it!), sometimes the blog falls prey to higher priorities. That said, once we’re in the new house you can expect a bunch of content, comin’ atcha! And, fingers crossed, I’ll be back in the kitchen soon, whippin’ up some rockin’ food.
Peace out, internet friends. Have a great weekend.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

We recently painted our study a dark, moody green color. This is after we first painted it a muddy green, then repainted it a blue-gray. I guess what they say is true; third time’s a charm! The journey was worth it, though, because I’m so in love with this glossy green in contrast with the […]

[…] is our one year house-iversary! This day, one year ago, after our fair share of drama, we closed on this home. It was such an amazing feeling. It has been a year of growth in so many […]
Miss the blog posts. Hope all is well.
I hope everything is now on the smooth track again! I miss your posts!
Thinking about you guys today. Fingers crossed it all works out!
This is stressful business – we totally get it.
From the time our offer got accepted until the bank loan was approved and we made it to the closing table, it was over 2 months. We even had an attorney, but things are just nuts in the housing market. It was INSANE! Getting a mortgage is nothing like it used to be ;)
Rest up, lady (and family). Looking forward to what’s to come!
Take your time, hope all goes well, and RELAX! Why do we hold ourselves to such crazy standards?? Sometimes you just gotta live :)
I’m sorry to hear your closing hasn’t gone according to plan. This may be unpopular and maybe you’ve already done it, but I would strongly suggest consulting an attorney. As nice as everyone seems, they are looking out for themselves (including the title company). An attorney is there to look out for your best interests. There may be remedies available to you, given that this delay is not your fault.
Aww, house buying and selling is stressful even when everything does go according to plan. Be kind to yourselves!
Good luck. Hope everything else goes more smoothly!
If it makes you feel better, my parents bought a brand new house (from the builder) last year and due to the bank having issues with their particular type of mortgage, it took them almost 2 months to close. A month of that was spent in a hotel room because they’d already terminated their rental agreement with the assumption that the closing date would be firm.
Sadly, my 1 bedroom apartment wouldn’t have worked for all of us to live in and there’s no other family in the area.
Such a stressful time! No worries about the lack of posts- just looking forward to all the new projects that will be coming our way once you get settled. Good luck!
Hang in there! Have a great weekend…
I am so sorry you guys!! In a totally ‘non stalker we used to be in the same ward’ kinda way…I would love to help you guys…since we live in the same area and all! If you need anything I am more than willing to help!! I know we are more like acquaintances but Jeff and I would LOVE to help you guys out…even if we can bring you guys some dinner or something! Now that we live in the same area we will have to go on a date night with the couples and get to know each other better! Maybe Chris can teach Jeff some cooking tips or heck maybe he can teach me!!
I think everyone who has bought a house goes through some stressful aspect of the purchasing/closing/moving process. Our short sale was an absolute disaster – but I’m glad that the three of you and Charly all have somewhere to be in the interim. Can’t wait to see all the ideas you’ve come up with!
Take your time getting settled, guys. Your peace of mind and well-being are so much more important to me than any blog post. xo
Oh man, so stressful! Good luck next week!
Sounds like a stressful time–hopefully things start to get moving in an exciting new direction on Tuesday. Good luck with the closing!
I feel for you especially since I get very anxious myself in stressful situations that I can’t control. Hang in there. Your “virtual” friends will cross our fingers that every thing goes smoothly now and we are happy to hear back once you are settled. In the meantime enjoy some quality time with family.
I feel your pain! Do not get anxious about not meeting blogging expectations. Some bloggers crank out posts so fast it makes my head spin. You are normal people, not machines. You’re allowed to experience some life in between posts. Take your time and enjoy the ride. This, too, shall pass. Some of the best memories come out of “sitches” like this. Praying that all goes smoothly for you from here on out. Excited to see what’s ahead!
Makes sense guys – take a blog holiday and I know we all look forward to when you are back!
Waiting for a house to close is the worst! Ours was only 4 days late, but I can empathize with that. Good luck & hope it happens quickly!!
