Well, after seeing the couch in the space, I still was set on the arc lamp, but Chris felt like it might shrink the room which would be against what we were going for especially since adding recessed lighting and taking out that duck-inducing ceiling fan. There wasn’t much room on either side of the couch, so a floor lamp was really the only thing that made sense:
Then, on a whim one afternoon, I moved the living room lamps to the family room and they felt so perfect there:
Like, really, really charming. Amiright?
And without even realizing it, we ordered the exact lamp from CB2 that was pictured in the family room’s mood board for the living room. It arrived yesterday, and I put it together myself (with a little help hinderance from Greta) in about 45 minutes.
I snapped a photo last night so you can see how she shines at night. Sorry for the blurriness, I must have been real excited about the amount of light it gives off.
In short, it all worked out. We are smitten on all accounts, although the new lamp has kind of started a mini-revamp for the living room. But. BUT, I am trying to push the thoughts out of my head until we finish the studio and the family room.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

We recently painted our study a dark, moody green color. This is after we first painted it a muddy green, then repainted it a blue-gray. I guess what they say is true; third time’s a charm! The journey was worth it, though, because I’m so in love with this glossy green in contrast with the […]

Quick question..I have this exact lamp and it’s the main source of light in an unfortunately dim living room. What light bulb do you use/would you recommend for this lamp, given it’s maximum wattage of 150?
Thanks!
Love the lamps in the family room! They look great flanking the couch!
This lamp you recommended for my mood board was one few things I was going to do without, now after seeing how substantial it is, I think I need to reconsider. It really lights up the room!
I think a frame would be perfect. Ry wants a map so bad in our house but I have no idea how to go about it. I’ve seen it cut down and put on 4 canvas’ with mog pog which was cool.
I love the living room lamps in the family room! They look great. And the arc lamp is of course beautiful.
I’m loving it all!! Looks so good. I especially love that arc floor lamp. We’ve had our eyes on that one for a loooong time.
The lamps by your new couch look lovely. It totally makes a little more lived in and I love it. I’m excited for the new revamp! It’s constantly changing! You’re amazing.
Put it on your credit card and don’t look back. ;)
Those floor lamps are from Target (I just recovered the shades) and we have bounced them from place to place since we were married. The map isn’t done. We were going to move it, but we have decided to try to work with it and frame it first. I even hesitated showing these pictures because I didn’t want anyone thinking it was complete. But ya know, gotta keep it real.
i love it!!!! that arch lamp is going to be the death of my pocketbook….
Those 2 lamps make the family room so cozy and warm! I must look into something like that. We have zero floor lamps….ok wait we have a $7 one from Walmart. High rollers! I still feel like the map is missing something….it doesn’t look complete for whatever reason.
Loving the lamps in the family room. It just works! I think that they help balance the map too. Looking a lot more complete and cozy now. :-)
