It was exactly a year ago when Chris and I flew to North Carolina for the first time to go house hunting. We made the decision to move in the middle of a long winter and there were a lot of unknowns at the time. It’s a year I would never want to live through again because of all the agonizing hoops and heartbreak, but I also can’t imagine still being in Idaho. It’s so surreal to be here and to have found this house we get to call home. Because of that, February will always feel monumental. Highlights of this month include the grasscloth wallpaper install, kitchen appliance update, the pantry doors, Greta’s room, and the transformation in the study! (How can the shortest month feel so long!?) Can’t wait to see what the next month brings! Here’s a few of my favorite things that made February just a little bit better.
1. Hood Classic Pendants $679 You might have seen these lights make an appearance in Love Letter a few weeks ago! We have three of these hanging in the breezeway connecting the bonus room to the soon-to-be rec room and they are adding so much drama in a very effortless way. I love to go big with lighting in a hallway because there is not much else that will be in the space. These are showstoppers for sure.
2. Anolon Cookware $200 These are the stainless steel pots and pans we’ve had forever! (I think we got them in 2015!) They showed up in a few stories this month and we got so many questions about them. Great price for such a quality set too.
3. Wooden Spatula $20 This wooden saute spatula seems to be Chris’s main cooking utensil these days. It’s a great utensil to have because it can be a spoon, it can be a spatula, (it can be a paint stirrer in a pinch–JUST KIDDING!) plus it won’t ruin your non-stick pans.
4. Workout Tank $22 My new favorite workout tank and addition to my capsule workout wardrobe! It has a built in bra which is my favorite kind of tank and the neckline is so flattering! I was concerned it would be too much of a crop but honestly the length is perfect with my high-waisted leggings.
5. Melamine Plates $32 These have quickly become our every day dinner plates plus have you ever seen a cuter melamine plate?!
6. Faux Peonies $9 These faux peonies are not your grandmother’s fake flowers! I’m so obsessed with their realness that I made a reel about them ;).
7. Washed Wood Nightstand $448 Greta’s new nightstands that inspired rolling out a new rug, and moving the dresser around, hanging art haha–basically a whole room rearrange! They’re such a great height and I love the dark blue tones.
8. Talbert Vase $65 This vase is shockingly large, but in a perfect way. I have it sitting on our kitchen counter with some equally large stems right now. I have never regretted a substantial vase.
9. AirPod Cleaning Pen $9 Is anybody else mildly embarrassed by how dirty their Airpods and case gets? I got this cleaning kit specifically for that and they’re practically brand new! Plus, Chris loved playing surgeon cleaning out every crevice. So handy to have if you have the same issue.
10. Checkmate Candle $42 I got an Instagram ad for this candle so many times that I caved and it’s 100% worth the hype! The smell is intoxicating and I’m so into that checked pattern. I keep moving it around.
11. Running Shoes $124 These are my favorite workout sneaks right now! So comfy, amazing for running and they have so many color options!
12. Faux Artichokes $25 These faux artichokes look so good in a basket or bowl. These are the ones pictured in the photo above! I think it’s a really fresh way to add some greenery and texture to a kitchen without eating 6 artichokes! (although, honestly HAVE YOU EVER BECAUSE THEY ARE AMAZING!)
13. Prolific Sink $1469 Our kitchen sink that is big enough to bathe in… as an adult! Okay haha I haven’t done this but it’s an incredible workstation that comes with all these customizable attachments. They have a lot of different sizes, but we have the 44″. We wrote a whole post about it this month here!
14. Clementine Bed $1498 The new scalloped bed we have in Faye’s room and it’s the perfect whimsical addition, especially paired with her canopy! I’m currently on the hunt for a cheery wallpaper to pair with it all.
15. Joggers $128 Chris seems to be living (and working out) in these joggers lately! He wears them every day to school drop off, to the gym, to run errands and I don’t blame them because they’re so soft and comfortable.
16. Swing Floor Lamp $205 I bought this lamp to go in our study and I love sitting in the neighboring comfy leather chair with a soft bulb. It’s the perfect mood and task lighting! And you can’t beat the price!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

I love my Earlywoods Spatula! I have a great friend that is from Red Lodge, Montana, where these utensils are made, and he gifted me the spatula as a housewarming gift. I love their products and love that they are American Made! Thanks for supporting them! I would encourage everyone to shop directly from their website, instead of Amazon! https://www.earlywooddesigns.com/
We have a wonderful cookware set that we were given as a wedding present in 1973. I think that it will outlive us as it doesn’t appear to be wearing out.
I have been trying to figure out what to put in my new antique dough bowl for springtime (fall was gourds, winter was ornaments) and you have answered my question…. ARTICHOKES!! Thank you!
That Anthro nightstand is gorgeous and such a good price! I wouldn’t have expected that price from Anthropologie – I need to pay more attention to them.
