Yes, it is nice to throw Greta’s toys in the storage ottomans before meals (sometimes) and before guests come (as long as it isn’t a surprise). But every day, this mess haunts me and bugs me and then yesterday I snapped. I swapped ottomans. The smaller storage ones went down to the family/tv room and the larger one came up to the living room.
And you know what, this bugs:
It is way too big. And our family room which was already desperately needing help–really, it is my least favorite room in the whole house– went from being the worst room:
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Custom made sofas. We love ours.
i would second restoration hardware for deep sofas. they seriously are the most comfortable i have ever sat on…of course, that would be in the store while drooling, not in my actual house ;)
We love our couches, got them at RC Willey. My husband is 6’2″ and they are great for him. My feet hang off the floor, but that’s ok. They are over 4 years old, survived a very spitty baby and still look new. Everyone that comes over says they love them. If you want any other info or a picture, send me a message on FB. Good luck couch hunting, it’s hard to find just the right fit.

You know. YOU KNOWWWWWWWW.
love your honesty and real talk. couches for tall people are trickyyyy. and storing toys? i can only imagine.
Nice! Which one did you get?
I actually LOVE that, Lexy! We talked about the possibility of getting away from sectionals and going for a couch with maybe a separate chaise to lounge on. That leather looks so luxe. Definitely going on the short list.
A friend of mine worked at Restoration Hardware just to get the discount. She worked there for a few months, made her purchase, and that was that. Their furniture is super expensive, but very deep. I love going to her house and sitting on her couches. I don’t want to go anywhere else in the house.
I know you like clean and modern, but here’s a pic of hers:

Seriously. SO comfortable.
Umm…really?? That couch is gorgeous! I guess, being a shorty has perks since we don’t have quite so many seating issues. ;) And I really do want your couch. Email me what your asking. :)
This makes me laugh so hard because that sectional looks PERFECT for me and ry ;-) oh you tall people you! I wish we could buy that couch from you!!! Can you FedEx it to me?? Lol. We bought our couch at Costco so I have NO clue where you should start looking.
Wow! We are the same heights! Nuts. We will definitely share every detail of the process.
Love your couch and I’d love to buy it from you but I’m not sure we are a white couch family…I personally am a white couch kind of gal but my family is more chocolate/mud brown. Good luck on the couch search! I have banished toys from our front room- does it always stay clean? No. But, a girl can try.
Amazing what kind of issues we can have for being tall. My husband and I just went through the same thinking (he is 6’4″ and i am 6′). Let me know what you come up with and good luck :-)
