Episode 6 of The Chris Loves Julia Podcast went live Monday morning and it’s my favorite episode yet! A little background about the episodes: we go over to Preston’s studio and talk for almost 2 hours about a topic. It’s completely unscripted besides the reader questions that we usually read ahead of time (send your questions to podcast@chrislovesjulia.com!) and then sometimes we let them dictate what we talk about. Afterward, Preston takes our conversation and edits out all the long pauses and blabbering on to fit into a reasonable listening time–we shoot for 30-45 minutes.

This week, we talked about all about kid rooms, including our own childhood bedrooms, our children’s rooms (some funny backlash and mistakes we’ve made), how we approach young rooms and honestly, I’ve never laughed harder in my life. There were tears. We hope you will subscribe and enjoy listening to it!
If you have an iPhone, click here to listen or search “Chris Loves Julia” and it will pop up. Hit Subscribe and you’ll be able to listen. Hint: the Podcast app is already on your phone!
If you are on an Android phone, you have two free app options: Stitcher Radio or Google Play. Download the app, and search “Chris Loves Julia” and hit subscribe. Listen away.
One interesting thing about this episode that I enjoyed is Chris, Preston and I don’t all necessarily see eye to eye on themed kid rooms. What’s your take on them?
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Loving the podcasts! I know you have talked about art on the blog but could you go more into it on the podcasts. I love love the art leaning above your sofa. I told myself that once we bought a house I would try to incorporate that. However, my new house has room for a sofa but not against a wall :/
Do you think it would work above my bed?
This episode couldn’t have been better timed. We’re about to add an extra room so our eldest can get a room of his own and this episode was very helpful in the decision making. So thanks!
Have you thought about making it available to those who don’t have smart phones or who want to listen at work? We can’t install software on our work computers so I can’t listen to the podcasts. Jess Lively not only has her podcasts on iTunes but also adds them to her site so readers/listeners can hear them there as well.
I’m in the same boat, Heather. :) Preston commented on one of the podcast posts and I saved the link! I use this every time I see there’s a new podcast!

Thank you! I’ll have to give that a try!
Girl, I am so on board with the GG guilty pleasure! No shame!
This episode was so good! I was listening to it at work and had tears of mirth running down my face as I tried to stifle the laughter. LOVE the podcast so much!
I love the “Ff” art – I have a Farrah and may just steal this DIY idea ;-)
I just looked on itunes and the episode isn’t there. Seconding what Jessica said. I know you guys are in the thick of the kitchen renovation right now, so I will be patient.
It’s up now! Sorry for the glitch.
Honestly no biggie and was a well timed life lesson in patience for this gen Y adult! ;-)
I’m in Itunes and the episode isn’t there. I thought it was weird that Chris and Preston did the same intro joke!!! Know you are busy on a crazy renovation so will be patient! Hope you are getting enough sleep :-)
It’s up now! So sorry.
