We are going to be hanging a large art installment that will not only serve as a box for those cords but also the color element–I got a pretty good idea of what I’m gonna be doing. As you can see from the photo above, we have a lot of other plans for this room before our big party next week. We probably won’t have time to redo the floors before next Friday, but I am certain I can improve them. The other projects are pretty straightforward (we hope) and budget-friendly. You’ll be seeing a lot more of this little laundry room over the next week through all the tweaks.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Ya know, Chris isn’t the only one who loves Julia. I do!!! Oh, how I’ve missed seeing your home-improvement posts. No blogs are allowed in China – I couldn’t see yours or post to mine. But now I’m back and ready to blogstalk you once more!
My vote is for smaller tile. That way it contours to the slope better, is durable and will look good. :)

I DON’T have a plan yet. haha. The room has a floor drain in the corner so it slopes a little and I have no clue how to address laying new flooring around that. I’ve just been Googling around–definitely looking up your suggestion! Thanks!
Paint did a LOT for that little room. I’ve seen cool things on HGTV about the lamenant tiles that you just stick right on top of old lamenant flooring. I KNOW you know what I’m talking about, but that space isn’t too big and I’m sure it isn’t too $$ either. But I’m sure you already have a plan up your sleeve.
It’s amazing what a little paint can do! I love pretty and organized laundry rooms; I look forward to seeing the final room =)
It’s amazing what a coat of paint can do. I can’t wait to see the finished project. I’m following, Please check out my blog.

Ok. This is such a change! I have never had to deal with wallpaper but it’s nice to know it wasn’t too bad. Please post about those concrete floors! I can’t wait to see them!
I’m so excited to see how this turns out. I love how well I know your house without ever being there! It’ll mean that much more the first time I come visit!
