Speaking of our table lamp, it’s in mid-costume change right now. The blue and brown swirls weren’t jiving with this room, so I picked up a half yard of this black and white fabric last night and will hopefully get it fitted and presentable today. I’ll just use this tutorial of yore to get ‘er done. Something else of note is that green throw that is lounging over the chair. It was a wedding gift from Chris’s grandma. She MADE it and I jumped at the chance to feature it in this room. It’s beautiful and soft and personal–all things a home should be made of.
We need to hang curtains on that big window, but we think we’ll skip the blinds for now. We love the light pouring in and the clean window lines. And if we change our mind, the curtains will be there for a crutch, if needed. Also, the ottomans will be dressed in mustard fabric before the weekend is through–finger’s crossed. More mirrors and art to hang, yada yada. All that will come in time. Right now, this room doesn’t really belong in this house with the other rooms in their current state, (you can check out more rooms in the house tour) but it is serving as a great entry room for all those folks that drop in. Basically, we are tricking them into thinking that we are superhuman and our whole house is revamped. Ha! I guess that will only last as long as it takes to look past the living room into the adjacent dining room. Wop wop.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.
SHop all

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
