A month ago, we got a call from Lowe’s that they would like to revamp the how-to videos on their YouTube channel. And by “revamp”, they really mean–make them less showy. Isn’t that funny? Awhile ago, they invested in a production company, actors, the works (!!!) to film tutorials on how to do basic bathroom projects like: install a vanity, mirror and lighting, lay floor tile, and install a tub with fiberglass surround. They have since realized people prefer watching real people work out the problems and DIY these kinds of projects. You’ll never guess who they want their real people to be now? That’s right–us!
So they asked if there was a bathroom we could renovate (in the next month!) and film how to do those basic things. While we have our own master bathroom on the agenda, we decided against a tub, and they really needed a video to show how to install a tub with surround. Luckily, our friends (Preston and Corine) opened up their home to us, were 100% on board with the requirements and even gave us free design reign over the other aspects–although we absolutely had them okay everything. Here’s their bathroom before:
I whipped up a design plan in a week, got everything approved and ordered and we started last Saturday and will finish this Friday! I’ve been documenting the process on my Instagram Stories all week (it’s REALLY coming together now!), but here’s a sneak peek at where we’re headed!:

The finished videos will live on Lowe’s’s YouTube channel, but we’ll absolutely have a big reveal here and make sure you know when the videos are up! Until then, definitely follow along on Stories right here! We should be installing the vertical paneling today! I just love a quick turn-around project.
Ps. I definitely googled the possessive form of Lowe’s–crazy!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

The next project we’re checking off our 2023 project list is the mudroom! This used to be the laundry room until we built out a much bigger, better laundry room upstairs. So, in the meantime, this space has been exclusively Cricket’s room. Cricket will still have a special space here, but we’re transforming this dingy […]

Can you link to the tub and surround you chose? Thanks!
Where can I see the final reveal?
We’re working on getting approval from the sponsor. Hopefully this week!
We just put that sink faucet in our half bath, and it is BEAUTIFUL. I love it!
Can you direct the removed fixtures/cabinets to Habitat and let us know you have? Or make them available free to someone? Maybe a landlord trying to update a rental on a dime. I do love your design aesthetic and see why many items need to be replaced, and we do lots of renos ourselves, but I always feel bad about things of decent quality and condition, getting removed.
LOL I was also intrigued about how I would write the possessive of Lowe’s. Honestly, I think I would have rearranged my sentence to avoid dealing with it. ;) I’ve been watching on your stories and loving it. I think my favorite part was Chris rave dancing on the first day.
Love this! Excited for them and you all! Love the design choices you have chosen.
I’m following on your insta stories but also Preston’s (how many, how many, how many!!!!). The tile is my favourite element so far! Look forward final reveal.
This is so exciting! I’ve been loving following along on Stories in the meantime. :)
I keep thinking about all the skills you guys have acquired over the years!! How awesome that you can go in and re-do a friend’s bathroom in such a short time frame! The gift of home equity is amazing. Keep up the good work and I can’t wait to see everything.
Do you have a link for the tub and surround you plan to use?
Ps still working on night sleep / sleep trying over here sorry if I’m just too tired too see something so obviously in front of me if it is there and I just don’t see it.
(Actually– already enjoying following along on Instagram. Looking forward to seeing it come together :) )
Such a great plan!! Looking forward to following along
