Title: Ep 14: Wake Me Up With Indecision: Which Updates Are Worth Making?
Hot Topic: What should you do if you want to make a change to your home you think may lower its value?
Show Notes: Every renovation project is a balancing act, between budget, time, needs, wants, etc.. But when you don’t know how long you’re going to be in your home, is it really worth spending the time and money to update it?
Chris and Julia discuss how they approach the “is it worth it” question, as well as striking the balance between creating the house you want to live in and one that someone else will want to buy someday. They also talk about projects they’ve been working on, including their downstairs basement and outdoor fireplace.

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

First time commenter, but I am so with you on insta-stories and I’ve been unfollowing people who post a ton on instastories that aren’t things I want to see because I’m following them for a specific reason.
First time listener, recently started reading the blog. I like to listen while gardening, but I’m going to start a mini-refresh of our 50-plus year old master bath (floor space 4.5 x 5.5 ft) and podcasts are great for painting to!
Not completely finished with listening to this episode, but I wanted to jump in and say thank you for your vulnerability about your photography Julia! I think you do an awesome job!
Also, I feel the same way about instastories… I’ve definitely unfollowed people because of it. But on the other hand, there are a couple of people that I like a million times more thanks to their story. Still more of a fan of snapchat though.
