I am hooked on ’em lately. We have always been rip-off-a-paper-towel-and-fold-it people. Even if we are having company over (tacky tacky tacky). Chris loves to cook (no surprise there) and he LOVES to cook for lots of people, so we have friends over for dinner at least once a week. Suddenly, I am completely embarrassed about tucking a paper towel by a plate. Even though we do use the luxe Viva ones (if you don’t, just try them….you’ll be hooked). So, earlier this week, I picked up a cheap-o pack of paper napkins and a sleek, clear holder at Ikea (another shocker) for a grand total of less than $5. Why have I been avoiding buying printed napkins for so long?! I have no answer for that. I am honestly converted now. It’s nice to have a pretty napkin with dinner, even when it is just Chris and I. Next, I am looking to invest in some nice, colorful cloth ones. I use the term “invest” very loosely, because I am convinced that a napkin may be the cheapest thing that makes the biggest impact on a tablescape. So, I rounded up some of my cloth and paper favs, with links (click on the name of the store)–just in case you got the fever, too

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Yaaaaa we have packs of cheapo napkins but we are very anti paper towels. Well, at least I am. I think they are SUCH a waste. Ryan LOOOOVES paper towels. If he goes shopping, then HE can get them. I’m a rag and hand towel kind of girl. Wash and reuse.
There is just something SO FUN about colored napkins. I LOVE those prints. So cute. And seriously, if you post one more time about what you got at IKEA I am going to start crying….or start driving to the nearest IKEA. love ya

Hahah “drooling? bet you wish you had a napkin” Yes, I’m a paper towel tucker too….We have company about twice a month, usually the missionaries and a friend from the ward another time. And we fold paper towels every night, and do the same for company. But yes, it’s not great. Lisette sent me 2 Ralph Lauren red napkins with silver rings for Christmas! We used them for Valentines, and then stored them away. Perhaps I should get bright colored ones for all year round! PS. Sometimes white cloth napkins just don’t make sense to me…
