I wasn’t planning on doing any of the girls rooms this year, because there was so much chaos in the main areas of the house, I really wanted to make sure their rooms stayed clean and organized (even if they did lack personality) until things calmed down everywhere else. But a few weeks ago, I stumbled across some wallpaper from William Morris called “Owl and Willow” that I couldn’t get out of my mind!! It felt so perfect for Polly’s room. I could only find it available in the UK, but I had some amazing people in my corner with connections through The Tile Shop and William Morris, I eventually was able to get my hands on some through Zoffany. (Thank you! When there’s a will, there’s a way and my will was pretty strong with this one I guess!) When it arrived this week, my jaw hit the floor! It’s the most magical, fairytale, storybook wallpaper a little girl could want. It has ponies, dogs, owls, peacocks, lily pads!! Every time I look at it I find something new which feels like a game! Being just 4, I know that of all the girls, she will get the longest mileage out of this paper in her room.
All the walls in Polly’s room will be getting the wallpaper and I’m leaning toward white trim, actually!. Before even moving into this house, I decided I wanted to get really bold and brave with patterns and prints, and wallpaper is a great place to start. Starting with installing the wallpaper in the WC (water closet), moving onto Polly’s room, then the music room, and who knows what will be next?? All this to say that I’m just getting started when it comes to wallpaper.
• My lip mask that I wear EVERY night for bed, just came out with some seasonal flavors and I’m so excited to try them. I ordered this three pack with my OG fav and it also comes with Gingersnap and Peppermint! Would make such a great gift, too!
• I ordered this light for Polly’s room. Isn’t it sweet?!
• Tell me we’re not the only ones.
• I saw Jessica wearing these tennis shoes a couple weeks ago and I pounced when she shared a link. They are so cute and comfy. The sizes are men’s so make sure you size accordingly. (I sized down by 1.5)
• Leanne Ford’s latest collection for Crate & Barrel knocks it out of the park again. My sister ordered this dining table for her home, and I can barely believe this gorgeous vase is just $29!
• I saved this beautiful bedroom as inspo for Greta’s bedroom, but then I realized it kind of looks like ours. Haha!
• This men’s shirt is my favorite things to wear. I got it for Chris last year, but I wear it open, as a shacket, at least once a week!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

I’ve been eyeing a “shacket” myself – the chamois shirt from LLBean. It comes in men’s and women’s fits and so many colors.
Love love the wallpaper!!
Owl and willow is gorgeous but you may want to consider a focus wall instead of the entire room….. May become tired of the pattern.
Hi Julia! Your lily pads made me want to share this sweet duck lamp I just bought for my baby. She’ll be perfect perched on a bookshelf! https://www.mysweetmuffin.com/products/egmont-heico-looking-down-duck-led-lamp
Yes to light switches! We just installed a smart light system and so every “switch” has 8 little buttons that are different sections of lights or different combinations of lights. We have post-it notes as a guide until we memorize all the buttons. HAHA!
OH my goodness, I was eyeing that same wallpaper!
The light for Polly’s room gives me Where the Wild Thing Are vibes and I am HERE for it! What a lucky little girl to have a mom who can create fairytale rooms to perfection. Also remembering the Elsa bedroom and now wishing you were my mom! Ha
Literally amazing!!! Perfect storybook Feels! I cannot wait to see as it transforms. I loved her last room so much.
That wallpaper is MAGICAL. I can’t wait to see it up on her walls.
White trim that matches the ponies would be gorgeous, but hear me out….tone on tone green trim. Dark green from the trees or that lovely light green from the grass.
Exactly what I came to say! I would love to see green trim. Either a mid tone for a monochromatic look or a darker green for some contrast. That paper is magic, it needs a frame.😍
GREEN trim team!
Can’t get you outta my mind! Ohh yeah can’t get you outta my mind!
🤣🤣🤣
Wallpaper is giving me some definite Hieronymus Bosch vibes and I’m loving it!
This is a dream of a wallpaper.
I immediately go to a wonderfully happy place when I see this paper. As a Brit, William Morris is all things home and I wish you many happy years looking at all the details.
Completely enchanted! Love.
I first learned about William Morris papers many years ago. I have loved them ever since! Such depth of color and design. Fabulous!
Polly’s room is going to feel so magical!
Beautiful 🧡 Curious to know if wallpapers from William Morris are non-toxic?
I’m not sure!
Oh my gosh if I were Greta I would adore that room! Yes the bed somewhat resembles yours but it is so pretty and classy and a style she can grow with. I say go for it!
I showed her and she LOVES it, so I have to. :)
WOW, just wow! I love the colors in the wallpaper, it’s going to be gorgeous on her walls.
The wallpaper and light for Polly’s room are just so amazing!!! I immediately started searching to see if I could find that pattern in fabric.
I would love this for my daughters room! What’s the name of the wallpaper?
It’s called “Owl and Willow” by Morris & Co
The wallpaper is gorgeous! You always pick such bold prints and I love seeing how you style it… You’re my wallpaper inspiration! Curious how this wallpaper lines up? It looks like they’re might be an extra piece in between?
Yes! Every 200cm gets cut and lined up to create a scene
Wow! That wallpaper is STUNNING! What an awesome find!
My goodness, that wallpaper is just beautiful! As you put her room together, I’d love your advice on how to keep a room with busier (and beautiful) wallpaper from feeling too busy or cluttered? I’d love to put wallpaper in my girls’ rooms but feel like with their many toys it could look too cluttered constantly! Thank you!! :)
