This week has been a whirlwind of excitement surrounding our Polly rug launch with Loloi! We’re so proud of these rugs, and it makes our hearts so happy to see you unrolling them in your homes already! This is just one of the incredibly rewarding parts of the job–designing and collaborating with creatives, and seeing you join in the celebration with us.
It’s an odd problem to have, photographing and sharing our stunning rugs in a home that has rooms taped off in plastic, and dusty surfaces. We have had to be VERY creative. The juxtaposition of it has been laughable at times, but also sort of beautiful. I’m reminding myself that these moments of contractors coming in and out of our home are going to be a just a memory some day, along with the bubble baths in the largest sea-shell tub. And although I look forward to the day that our bathroom and our home reflects our aesthetic and needs a bit more, I’ll never wish away these moments. These messy, beautiful moments are a part of us, and I’m grateful for every moment.
But seriously, how gorgeous is that window and view out of it?! Chris and I have been thinking a little bit about this bathroom (we’d love to renovate it next year) and ideally our vanities would face the window so we can always look out…and so our faces are no longer back lit. But I suppose bathroom plans are best saved for another day.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, I’m going to keep this short because we are getting ready for painting the bonus room tomorrow!! If you read yesterday’s post, you know we’re taking it a deep blue and I can barely wait. I’ll be sharing progress in my stories @chrislovesjulia. But before that, those thousands of nail holes aren’t going to fill themselves. :)

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

We had that same bathtub in a house we owned in 2007! I have great pics of our three little boys in it with huge bubbles. It had jets too so the bubbles got enormous. We’ve moved since then, but a lot of fun was had in that seashell tub!
Honestly something about that tub is pretty magical. Maybe it’s just the way you’ve photographed it. Would you choose it now? Ha, No. But I’m with you when you say you are just going to enjoy it for now instead of wishing it away.
With that little girl in it, the seashell tub looks totally happy and appropriate! Mermaid life 4eva.
Isn’t that seashell bathroom the realization of everyone’s childhood mermaid dreams? Remember Splash? You just need a big box of kosher salt on the side. Maybe a dinglehopper or two…
Halloween is unfortunately over, but it’s not too late for a seashell bathtub mermaid photoshoot.
