Befores, afters, mood boards, plans, failures, wins. We’ve done a lot of projects, and they’re all here.

We have a long-standing relationship with DIY, and love rolling our sleeves up and making it happen.

Even when you don’t want to rip down a wall, you can make that space in your home better. Right now.

With all the progress happening in our backyard this month, the theme around here has been outdoor (if you couldn’t tell from all the outdoor posts we’ve shared).

And the backyard isn’t even finished! I’m hoping July is the lucky month we’ll be jumping into the pool. Instead of sharing a bunch of my favorite things for this month, I asked the CLJ team to share their favorite things. We’re always sharing our great product finds with each other, plus I think this is a fun peak into everybody’s interests and personalities. Not to brag but we have the best team.

1. Scalp Sunscreen Mist $26

I first started using this as a sunscreen for my scalp but I loved the texture and smell of it so much I’ve been using it as an everyday product. – Chris

2. Denim Pull-On Shorts $59

These denim shorts have quickly become my go-to as it starts to get hotter here in NC. They’re the perfect pair of shorts in my closet to dress up with sandals and a blouse, or throw on with a tee and converse to run errands on the weekend. – Becca (Good Influencer Manager)

3. We Are Liars $6

I’ve read more than 20 thrillers this year, and “We Were Liars” is the one that really stuck with me. I listened to the audiobook, and the twist was so good — I pulled over my car! – Victoria (Brand Manager/Publicist)

4. Blue Light Glasses $16

As a writer, I’m on my computer or a screen pretty often. And as I neared my thirties, I noticed how much the screens were giving me headaches. A friend actually recommended I try blue light glasses. I wasn’t convinced, so I went with the cheapest pair that matched my style on Amazon, and WOW, what a difference they make! The headaches are gone, and now they’ve become a necessity. – Lauren (Editorial Manager)

5. Hair Dryer Styling Brush $68

On a recent TikTok scroll, I stumbled across this 90’s, Rachel from Friends inspired hair tutorial. The girl used the Revlon hair dryer brush and although I’ve heard great things about it before, the tutorial really sold me on it. I’ve been using it and loving it and I think it’s the best way to get an at-home blowout without all the struggle. -Missy (Social Media Manager)

6. Pedicure Nail Dashes $16

I was so skeptical about putting these on my toes but after using the manicure sets for a couple of years I had to try them! My feet have never looked cuter. – Julia

7. Expandable Hose $35

No more tangled, green hose in the yard. Pair it with this quick connect and it’s a life changer. It clicks right into the spigot! – Tristan (Project Manager)

8. Vegetable Chopper $29

Okay, why did I not get this sooner? I am on a Cowboy Caviar kick and this makes it so easy! – Brooke (Affiliate Marketing Manager)

9. Nod Pod Sleeping Mask $34

Eye masks are a thing in the past. For someone who’s on screens for a living, this has been the best addition to my nighttime routine. The velvety weight is a dream to get me to fall asleep fast, and has been my go-to for the occasional migraines I can’t kick. – Andi (Visual Media Head)

10. Weighted Hula Hoop $20

This is my girls’ favorite thing and since getting it, we’ve all been hula hoop obsessed. With the added weight, the girls and I can keep on going and going. Chris is still working on his form. – Julia

I read that book a few years ago and I loved it. However! I wish people would stop telling people when there are twists in books or movies. Once you hear that, you’re looking for it, and you can usually find it. (It actually happened to me with this very book.) Just say it’s really good, and leave it at that!

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
