We rounded up our top contenders in that same post and over the past couple weeks we have mulled over the choices and weighed out the pros and cons, and some of you weighed in too–thanks for that!
After nixing for price (we weren’t wanting to spend anywhere close to a grand), and color (the room is going to have enough white/cream once the map is moved–that’s happening), we decided on dark, modern, visually open number one. If you follow us on Facebook, you know we ordered it on Tuesday and to our surprise, it arrived yesterday! Three cheers for fast delivery.
The 60″Andalucia Large Dark Brown Leather Bench was on sale on Overstock for $187 (score!) and it was just what we were looking for. We love the mix of materials–the steel legs, walnut base and dark chocolate leather looks. go-ood. And it feels good on our feet, too. Uh, all of our feet…
As tempting as it is, we are going to try not to spend our whole weekend with our feet up. But there may be some lounging in the midst of yard work, zoo-going and dinner with friends. What are you up to?
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Hi there! How is the ottoman bench holding up so far? I was considering that piece as well as another and happened to come across your blog while researching (and looking for more photos). Thanks for posting by the way, it helps to see furniture in action.
We still have it all these years later!
Love this. Ahhhh I am so jealous right now. We have an all wood coffee table and it is NOT fun. I love the rich color and that it really is going to hold up nicely over the years. This would be nice at the foot of a master bed frame or something too….I’ve always wanted a bedroom big enough to have a bench at the foot of my bed :-) Somedaaaay
bahahaha, that last picture of Greta just kills me! Her little belly! You guys should lounge. You totally deserve it! Be lazy. Come down to my level… ;)
It looks fantastic!! The PERFECT choice :)
That one’s a winner for sure. I love how the stripes in the curtains pop out to me now. Excellent choice! Can’t wait to see your final after photos!
And that Greta… too cute for words. :)
That picture of Greta made me laugh out loud.
Welllllll, Julia, you inspired me to create my first painting!! Three, in fact. It manifested into three abstract panels that I’m giving as a gift tomorrow to a friend getting married. I will post photos on A Pear to Remember after the bride opens it. Thank you for the inspiration : )
P.S. Diggggggggging your new coffee table like mad. Ours is a mission-style wodden table that was my Grammys, with an Anthropologie clock knob on the front giving it so much character. I like it fine, but serrrrrrrrrrrriously love your new addition.
Hahahahaha. Oh please. Don’t you work two jobs?! And run a fantastic blog?!
Ditto, girl. Our bedroom is tiny now.
No way! How cool. Can’t wait to see photos!
What a perfect find! Love it. And I looove all the pictures :) Greta is adorable!
I love that last photo of Greta! I love the bench you chose too! I have the white version at the foot of my bed and I LOVE it! The leather is so soft and I bet it’s great to prop your feet up on :)
Now that is a perfect Christmas present for my dear hubby :)
i love the one you chose!! i think we need one of these in our future. our old coffee table is also too high and too hard for feet resting. and that last picture of greta is just the most adorable thing ever!!
That looks amazing in that room- perfect fit
LOVE it. It looks amazing! And what a super price!
It looks so nice and comfortable! And I love that picture of Greta! Too cute! :)
