1. Purple Pillow

Chris’s birthday was a couple weeks ago and he is constantly fighting with his pillows. Stacking. Unstacking. I saw that this one had so many amazing reviews and I ordered it for him for his birthday. And honestly, it hasn’t stopped talking about it. “It’s the greatest–especially for side sleepers. It’s so comfortable. I haven’t had any neck pain since I got it. It’s very supportive and you can customize the height. I love that it keeps its structure without being rigid or having any foam.” I love it when I do a good job on his gifts!

2. Amazon Echo Studio + Subwoofer

We’ve had the Sonos speaker for years, but we decided to switch over to this speaker after it promised better sound, plus, the girls all have echo dots in their rooms to listen to lullabies at night (it’s true!), so we knew having a central speaker would allow us to drop in to each of their rooms and create a whole intercom system. As far as sound quality goes–it definitely has better bass than a sonos. The mid to high ranges are less clear than a Sonos but we’ve adjusted it and it sounds super clear now. The best part is definitely all of the Alexa features that Sonos just could never 100% deliver on. We paired it with the echo subwoofer for an even better sound experience.

3. Candlesticks (peep in the photo above)

When these candlesticks arrived, it was like loose change. I didn’t even know what I was looking at! They came in three separate pieces and as I was putting it together I was like, “okay, okay–well they were inexpensive so I guess that’s what you get.” But the funniest thing is I’ve moved them around SO much this month. The thin bases look surprisingly high end–you just got to get around them arriving what appears to be in shambles.

4. My new watch band

Our social media manager, Brooke, has a beautiful Machete watch Apple band ($60+) when she mentioned there was a dupe on Amazon, I figured–it’s worth an order to see how they compare! I ordered one for $18 and I didn’t expect to fall in love with it!! The blonde tortoise is so perfect for fall. I would say that the coloring of hers is a little warmer and the fasteners are silver metal while mine are black. (I don’t mind the black, but I do like the slightly warmer coloring of hers a bit more. However, mine came with the tools to adjust the band and hers didn’t! All in all, a very great dupe!

5. Tanning applicator for your back

I’m not sure why I waited until post-summer to order this, but WOWOW I’m so glad I have one now. No more, “Chrissss????” I use a foam sunless tanner and this applicator is SO soft, and long enough to reach my entire back and shoulders with no extra effort on my part. The material is thick and soft and washes out easily. Wish I wouldn’t have waited so long.

What do you think?

When we upgraded to a king mattress, I purchased king sized pillows for the look when the bed is made each day. But I’ve struggled with neck issues and need to go back to a better pillow. How do you style your bed with Chris’ new smaller pillow??

  2. Sheri says:

Hi all, as a proud owner of the above Machete watch band, please consider buying it directly from Machete and NOT the dupe on Amazon and not from Madewell if you’re going to buy the actual Machete brand (which I would really beg you to). Support the small company and don’t encourage knock offs! :)

I’ve been on the hunt for a new apple watch band that looks dressier than the silicone one I have. This one could be perfect! I have super small wrists so I love that you can remove the links. BRB off to add to my cart :)

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
