The bathroom is thiiisssss close to being finished; we’re just waiting for a few final accessories to arrive. Today I wanted to share the free-standing linen cabinet we ordered for the room and the others we were considering, too!
Floor Tile | Wall Tile | Towel Bar | Towel | Art | Linen Cabinet | Basket
I am one who thinks a free-standing linen cabinet can add a big dose of charm to a bathroom, no matter what the size. This bathroom is pretty small, and the space between the toilet and the wall (where we always envisioned some sort of storage) was even smaller at just under 30″. Something built-in could have made that whole corner feel clunky and closed in, so instead, we went the free-standing route and are so happy we were able to add storage and still keep a sense of airiness in the room.
We purchased this “rustic wood” linen cabinet with a 20% off coupon from eBay (it’s 20% off right this weekend!) to add a little bit of warmth to the mostly black and white (and pink!) bathroom, but here are all the other ones we love or considered.
1. Odean Large Glass Cabinet $849
2. Windham Narrow Library Cabinet with Door/Drawer (comes in 4 colors) $199
3. Stuart Storage Cabinet and Hutch $899
4. Grid Shelving Tower $199
5. Rustic Wood Linen Closet $799
6. Classic Linen Closet $999
7. Decorative Ladder (perfect for towel storage!) $158
8. Bronte Bathroom Leaning Ladder Storage $329
9. Industrial Storage Wall Shelving and Cabinet $249
10. Highland Narrow Bookshelf $799 (on sale from $1299!)
11. Blake Gray Wash Tall Cabinet $999
12. Mid-Century Narrow Tower $599
13. Marte Storage Cabinet $729
14. Hemnes Glass Door Cabinet with Drawers $399
15. MALSJO Glass Door Cabinet $329 (we have this one in our hall bathroom!)
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Thank you so much for this post – have been searching for the right piece in our new bathroom but have specific size needs! This has got me thinking in a great direction!
OMG #2 and #14 are such a good price! Thanks for this roundup – they’re all so lovely. xx
I keep hoping you’ll give the source for that metal storage box IN the cabinet! (unless I’ve just missed it). I’ve only seen it in your instagram stories (once!) and fell for it hard.
It’s from McGee & Co, found here.
Thanks!
I love so many of these pieces! Love the one you picked, looks fabulous!!
Oh we are in the early stage of a bathroom reno and this is making me rethink storage. Thanks for all the links.
Side note, have you played the phone game I love hue? I’ve just started playing it, it’s relaxing and I think with your eye for colour you would be brilliant at it!
Ooooooooo! I haven’t. Looking into it.
Just wanted to leave some quick positive feedback. I love that you’ve gone ahead and listed the price next to each link. It’s so depressing to click through and zing! see that budget crushing number time and again. (Cough every Rejuvenation link ever cough) Love the roundup and can’t wait to see the final reveal :)
it looks amazing in there! my only complaint is that all the choices are so expensive!!! Who is paying $800 for a small bit of storage in a bathroom?! I wish there were more affordable options that were as chic as the ones you chose! :)
There are a few that are more expensive, but I included options from $158!
I’ve been looking for one for our newly renovated daughters bathroom. Whoa – thanks for doing the hard work for me :)
