Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig | Side Table | Accent Stool | Couch | X Pillow | Rug | Foot Stool
Earlier this week, I posted the above photo on my Instagram shortly after I accidentally cleaned the entire house instead of taking a nap…again. Nesting urges have definitely kicked in, but not in the form I’d like them to–you know, like washing the baby’s clothes or packing a bag or digging the carseat out of storage. I just can’t stop cleaning and rearranging and purging the house.
That fiddle leaf fig tree is a new purchase (from here) and we love it so much. Not only was it one of the cheapest of its size I could find, but the canopy top and leaves are beautiful, life-like and it is so tall! Of course nothing beats the real thing if you have a green thumb, but if you don’t, this one is a terrific buy and one of the best fakes I’ve ever seen. (I put it in a basket I had on hand from Target.)
The tree is just a small part of the refresh the living room is getting in preparation for shooting our new Charly sofa that is arriving in a couple weeks! Thank you all so much for your support and excitement of our furniture line launch yesterday. We can’t wait to have the couch in our own home and see it in so many of your homes, as well.
Other fun things this week!
• Do you follow @calvinseibert on Instagram? His sandcastles are out of this world! He is actually a paid sandcastle artist that travels the world, hired to build these architectural masterpieces, out of sand, on the beaches of high-end resorts. What a talent and what a gig, right?!
• My favorite jeans are on super sale this week ($25 at checkout!) Despite my better judgement, I ordered a size up to wear after I’m pregnant. Jury is out whether that is a good idea or not.
• We did a little more cabin hunting this week, and while we didn’t find the one, we did find this pretty little kitchen with the most cabin-esque cabinets and cork backsplash. Love!
• When I was sharing my Amazon Prime Day finds on my stories earlier this week, I mentioned we had purchased this camera to use as our baby monitor and a few of you wanted to know more. It actually came as a recommendation from a good friend of ours. They have the Nest, but her sister has this one and she loves it so much. It’s very similar to the Nest cam in that you can use your phone to see in the room, you can even move around the room with a swipe of the finger and it will send you movement alerts–all for a fraction of the cost. We’re pretty stoked about it.
• This news article near my hometown where I grew up, had me cracking up this week. I have so many questions! Like, what tooook you so long, for starters?
Lastly, I promised I would share my Nordstrom Anniversary Home picks on the blog (I gave a brief explanation of each in my stories last night)! I went through the whole home section and these were the 29 things, that were priced incredibly budget-friendly…that I would buy in a heartbeat.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

I got the same tree. Just arrived yesterday. Two leaves damaged during shipping, but still looks really good overall! Thanks for the recommendation. Quick question, how do you get the leaves spread out? I tried to separate them apart and change directions, but I couldn’t get the leaves to spread out like yours. Thanks!
I ordered the fiddle leaf as soon as I saw yours! Question… did you add anything on top of the original planter? Like moss? I stuck mine in a basket but when I looked down it was like “oh hey fake planter!” Maybe I’m too OCD?!?
I haven’t yet, but I thought the same thing. I’ll keep you posted!
Seems like a great camera and I’m very tempted, but I would personally not turn on the cloud or app services and only do local recording. Since it’s a Chinese camera, your essentially letting the Chinese government into your data. I’m from Silicon Valley and most engineers here only put the Chinese brand cameras outside. That’s the only reason I have Nests in my house instead of something that costs a fraction of the cost.
When you’re ready for a cork backsplash — ask @theardentforager for sourcing :)
We have that same camera in black for our baby monitor (as well as a few other views in our home) and love it! So versatile and can even talk through it if needed (telling our older kiddo to stop singing and close his eyes without having to leave the couch downstairs!).!
So, I literally just bought that exact same toilet paper patent art on Etsy for $11. Just FYI if anyone is considering that purchase :) Actually…looks like it’s on sale for $5: https://www.etsy.com/listing/196989082/patent-print-toilet-paper-roll-patent?ref=hp_rv
That’s awesome. I think the one from Nordstrom actually comes larger and as a stretched canvas and a certified note from the artist–but that’s a good dupe!
Happy Friday! I love that blue pillow… thank you for all the tips! Have a great weekend y’all..
Thanks again for the great tips!
Thanks for the headboard suggestion on prime day. We ordered it for my 5 year old son’s room, and it arrived last night. Great quality, amazing price point and super easy to assemble!
