I found out 2 days ago that Easter is in March this year, as in less than two weeks. Greta is ecstatic about these back to back to back holidays (St. Patricks Day, Easter and Faye’s birthday) and then throw in her Kindergarten circus next week and she is already bouncing off the walls. So, we’ve decided to limit the candy in the girls’ easter baskets this year, but pack it full with fun things they can enjoy for the long haul. Here are 18 non-candy (except the edible easter grass! omg!) things we’re loving for Easter baskets this year:

Clicking on each image will take you straight to the page for purchase, and many of the items are on sale, like those jammies are an additional 35% off! I remember growing up, we always got tights in our baskets. Every year! And my mom would make up little rhyming clues like a scavenger hunt to find our baskets. So excited to pass down that tradition in our family. What are you filling baskets with this year?

For quite some time now we’ve been ordering an Edible Arrangement for Easter morning instead of putting together baskets of candy and junk. It’s a favorite of my girls as it’s such a treat. There’s been a couple of years I either forgot to put my order in or the budget has been a bit tight so we’ve just gotten a bunch of fruit and dipped it in chocolate ourselves for a yummy brunch.

This comment doesn’t have to do anything with your post(Ha!) BUT I just want to say a big “Thank you!” for your post regarding paint colors; “Perfect putty paint” I believe. I have an open kitchen/living room/dining room as well and I’m currently painting them the same color, Hazy skies by Benjamin Moore and it is absolutely wonderful. I love how the color gets really light in the morning and gets slightly dark(cozy!) by the afternoon and evening. I also had the swatch color matched to Valspar Optimus in eggshell. It”s my first time using this paint and it surely won’t be the last. Certainly THE best paint I have ever used. One coat is all it took. Sorry for the long comment but just wanted to say Thanks!!!

Thank you Julia for picking my Scandinavian Easter Bunny!!! I love all your other picks too. That carrot pouch with the little bunnies!? Are you kidding me!? I need that for myself!

  5. I love these ideas, and I’m always up for any basket filler ideas that aren’t candy! I haven’t even begun to purchase anything for my son’s basket yet – I should probably get started on that! I’m always hesitant to buy too many obviously-themed toys since they won’t get played with much, but that deer stuffed animal is so sweet.

Thank you soooo much for posting about Easter basket ideas that are not candy. I have an 18 mo old and I don’t want to put candy in his basket (he can eat some of ours, hehe) and wanted some cool ideas for him. Love all of the things you picked out!

LOVE the Anthropologie fawn stuffed animal (and her sisters, cat and rabbit), but I’m so bummed to see that they aren’t available until 6/13! :-( Have you come across any other similar ones that might be available for Easter?

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
