We also get so many questions about our bedding. We recently added a large turkish pillow (from here) in the center and it brought everything together.
But the real tip I can give about creating a similar look would be to look for interesting pillowcases or shams. While I love a simple white duvet and white sheets for easy cleaning, adding our navy shams (I found online at Urban Outfitters) added so much interest to our bed. I put them in front of 2 king sized pillows (we use for sleeping) and I love the contrast and interest it added. 99% of the time the pillowcases or shams will have a matching duvet cover or sheet set you can purchase separately, but if it’s just a small pop of pattern you’re after, skip the duvet and opt for the shams instead. Not only will you save so much money, you’ll also save your bed from being too matchy-matchy. The horror.
Here are a few favorite pillowcases and shams to add to your bed right now (most come in sets of 2!) :

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

Love love love!!! Do you have the name of the Turkish etsy shop? The link doesn’t take you to the shop.
Thanks!
OK so maybe corner fireplaces aren’t your fave, but this looks awesome. We have a corner fireplace with no hearth and I LOVE it. When we are hanging out there as a family, there is nothing better than laying on soft carpet right in front of it while playing games or reading. Really, I think you’ve got a good thing going!
The pom-pom pillows are adorable and I love that floral set!
So many lovely options! I always swoon over the cases at Urban Outfitters.
love those patterns!
Loving these pillow suggestions! The floral and classic stripe prints are exactly what my boring white bedding needs. To pattern mix or not? Hmmmm
Great picks! I do exactly this in my bedrooms at home too! Matchy-matchy sets aren’t my thing, but I have a definite thing for new bedding. I have changed up our room at least 5 or 6 times in the 5 years we’ve lived in the house in and am about to whip out the paint brushes and do it again! Oh well.. that’s why paint is so affordable. :-)
Love all those pillow sham options you shared!! I may need to go shopping….:)
