Last week, I mentioned we found a his chair for our her chair in the living room. A lot of you had fun guessing which one we went with–which seemed to be overwhelming for number 6:
Looking out–not so good.
It’s that good. We’ll keep you posted, as always. I really need to get a shot of Chris in this chair so you can see how tall the back really is. What did you do this weekend?! Any other chair-coveters in our midst?
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

I love this chair! I just wish we had a World Market by us. My husband is 6ft 7inches tall and has yet to find a comfortable chair. I’m wondering if I should buy this online…
Hi Julia,
Do you have the link to the world market chair? I can’t find it on the website :(
Leila,
I could go on and on about this–but I’ll make it brief. About two weeks after we got that chair, we wanted another one and were going to move my chair into a different room. They were sold out. I called our local store who redirected me to corporate who redirected me to online sales and no one could tell me when they were going to be back in stock. One guy told me mid-December, but sitting here in January we know that wasn’t true. Luckily for us, we kind of love our duo of chairs but I still check every once in a while to see if they are getting it back in. They do have one in wheat. And it is on mega sale. http://www.worldmarket.com/product/wheat-triton-high-back-chair.do?page=2&from=fn
Wish I could help more!
Thanks Julia, thats what I thought… they may not make this color anymore..
You KNEW IT! I even asked Chris if he clued you in and he denied it. Good guess!
I brought them closer together–I’ll have to share an updated photo. I think you’re right, though. The major disconnect is the vast difference in heights.
Maybe it is just especially welcoming to us because we’re both tall (6ft and 6 ft 4 inches). Nothing feels better than having your whole back/neck supported.
Am I the only one who dislikes the gray chair? It looks lumpy and drab. The ikat chair was inviting and interesting. The tall back of the new chair doesn’t welcome you, it’s a barrier.
You need an small table/trunk/circular something with texture that is between them or on either side of them to bring them together. Perhaps bring them closer together, they seem to far away from each other. I feel like bringing in another grey would wash out the already grey room. Maybe the problem with the her chair is that its shorter in height.
Oooo, love! I love the high back.
I knew it.
ooh you definitely need one for you too! i love it!
Would it make a difference if you changed up the position of the two chairs (swapped them)? The her chair looks a little lost hanging out there… but perhaps if it was closer to the wall it would be more at home?
I love both chairs. I love the special, lovey-dovey feel of a “his” and a “hers.” And I think any art you hang or colors or materials or anything you put in there will go with your chair. Because YOU picked it for YOU. So… it’ll work. It’ll feel homey and comfortable and artsy and fresh.
I noticed that too. In reality, both are warm-toned. As for the spotlight of glory–maybe that’s due to the big ol window? Haha. The her chair was situated closer to the window in her post: https://www.chrislovesjulia.com/2012/08/the-her-chair.html
It looks like his chair is cool, and your chair is warm colored… at least in some shots… could that be the problem?? Plus, it totally looks like there is a spotlight of glory shining in the his chair, and the hers is just kinda stage left.
I love the his chair!! And comfort is so important. Even if one’s not going to sit in it a whole lot. I love that you are ‘testing the waters’ of putting the her chair up for sale. I totally do this with stuff at my house sometimes just to see if it would sell and I could switch it out for something of comparable price ;) The her chair is gorgeous though. And I think the contrast is nice. But it has to be what your and Chris’ eyes like!
Agreed. We had to order the “Dove Gray” one from their website once we were sold on the chair itself. :)
I was on the Chair 6 Team but I really do like the one he chose! I happened to be at World Market over the weekend and I saw the chair in the yellowy/tan fabric they have but the gray is so much nicer!
I think a little end table beside your chair might help. To me it looks a little lost because it’s not beefy enough. If you brought the dark grey over to that side of the room in the form of an end table with a lamp it might help balance things out. I do love both chairs though…there must be a way to make them work…..
Right?!
Not gonna lie, I’m in LOVE with slipper chairs right now, but for this space I definitely favor the “his” chair. It just works WAY better and I think that the “her” chair fabric could clash and there will be a lot of different fabrics in the space. I hope you can sell it and get a “his” chair too! :)
Haha. Yes! I couldn’t let it go. I was so back and forth, but deep down–I did NOT want to sell it, so Chris said if I loved it that much–we could make it work. So the lamp stays! I like my chair a lot, but man, I like his MORE. Maybe I can find another spot in the house for it?
Love the chair!! I would secretly be coveting it too :) But I still love your chair. Could you change out the pillows on each chair and bring in different colors? Maybe that would help with the dilemma. You’ll do a great job whatever you decide. ps. I still get sad when I see that lamp!! Looks like you decided to keep it?? I still haven’t persuaded Danny that we need to spend $150 on a lamp :) One day!
I was so hoping he picked this chair it was my stand-out favorite. But I do still love the ‘her’ chair…so good luck figuring that out. I can’t wait to see it all together.
