Who made this choice? Surely it was the same person who purchased our old bisque-colored refrigerator and all of our smoke detectors–yes, they are also bisque. Ack. With our recent refrigerator upgrade, and a full kitchen reno still a year or so away, we weren’t ready to replace the hood (we are dreaming of a BIG one when we do), but I did want to make it blend in.
So we replaced it with this clock (our only wall clock in the house right now–hooray for not relying on cell phones and oven clocks to tell time!) which we found at Ross for $16.99.
Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

That room that has the trash is so stinky ALL THE TIME. We thought about that when we first moved in, but I could not even handle the thought of having to stand and breathe in there longer than 2 seconds. But yes…it might be 2-3 months until the pictures are revealed, but know that it is in the works!
Lookin’ good! Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference :)
I find it HILARIOUS that your pantry is in your bedroom now. It seems like you should be able to attach some shelves to the inside of your closet in the kitchen…maybe starting half-way up so you can still use the bottom half for your garbage can and to stash things. But then again, I would surely miss having the chips and crackers at arms-reach in bed. Lol. I am anxious to see all these changes you are making! And a dining room table?! You guys deserve it. Can’t wait to see pictures!
love love love it all!! What a fab blog. What a difference a bit of paint does…holy cow…and that color bisque made me laugh…what a name for a rather boring color. I LOVE that quote.
So, we have been moving things around in the kitchen…and after postponing it TOO long, I moved the “open pantry” into our bedroom….(you would die…) but it avoids having to stress out constantly of Brin bringing a chair over, climbing up, and pulling everything off the shelves…25 times an hour. And now may does it too. Drives me insane! So if you need a bedtime snack, you have plenty to choose from right inside our bedroom!!! hahahahaaaaa So anyways, with our new found $$ with not buying a new laptop for me, we are totally getting a reaaaaaaaal table! And we will probably sell that high chair once we do and get a cheap strap on one. I am SO excited. More space in our kitchen! With that said, we are doing a picture wall in the kitchen. Since the ideal wall (upstairs hallway) NEVEr is seen by anyone except us going up and down with Brin, there is no point putting up cute pictures for no one to see!! So anyways, this was a long comment…but just letting you know what I’m up to. :-)
