Befores, afters, mood boards, plans, failures, wins. We’ve done a lot of projects, and they’re all here.

We have a long-standing relationship with DIY, and love rolling our sleeves up and making it happen.

Even when you don’t want to rip down a wall, you can make that space in your home better. Right now.

Oh wow.  I can breathe again.  Waiting for the internet to get hooked up has been harder than the actual move.  Really.  We missed them when they came by on Friday to hook it up because we weren’t LIVING here yet, and we thought for sure they would be able to come yesterday, but nay, today it was.  And now, I don’t even care.  I feel connected again.  I was lost and now I am found.  Okay, now I am sounding really pathetic.  Let’s move on to the goods.  The first official HOUSE TOUR!!!

Disclaimers:  This one isn’t dubbed over with a snazzy song like our farewell-apartment tour even though I totally wish there was something else besides my voice as the soundtrack.   Also, there are parts of the video where I must of had my finger over the mic or something because the volume gets super soft.  Know there is nothing wrong with your computer or the video–just my ability to work the camera.  Which brings me to the blurriness at times…eeekksss….I knew I wasn’t the one to do this job.  Sorry for that.  Last thing you should know when I use the words “lovely, nice, pretty” referring to something that obviously is not (ie: chandelier, heart-shaped shelf, hand-painted trim) know that I am just being polite until we DEMOLISH those things.  :)  If Chris were writing this he would probably tell me to just forget all of this disclaimer crap and show the video–which you can, and I am.  Right.  Now.

Ideas are brewing faster than Greta can climb all of these stairs (fyi: she’s got ’em down already) and we already have a few projects going.   We are surely going to share all of the details as things happen so you can look forward to that.  Also, as a side note and to keep things convenient, we will be answering questions in the comments section starting now.  I usually try to contact the person through email or facebook, but then I realized some people may have to same question, so to keep things tidy–we’ll just be providing answers or advice to any inquiries right here (unless they are personal of course, then you can just contact me directly, no prob).

….hey guys…. we bought a HOUSE!!! (*screaming*)

  2. Youre house is awesome! Definitely lots to do, but its going to be amazing. That beautiful chandelier above your table- yeah we have a very similar one in the entryway of our house! Every day when I look at it I just wish it was gone, so I’m excited for you that you can get rid of yours. Ahh the joys of renting! hahaha I CANT WAIT to see all changes you make!

    Meagan,

Greta is doing AWESOME!! She is sleeping better than she did at our apartment, even. As for the stairs, she is learning fast!! She can already go down by herself, but like you were saying with Brinley, she always stays at the top of the stairs and waits for me to tell her it is okay to come down. I usually entice her with her sippy cup or something. She gets so proud of herself when she makes it down the stairs all by herself. So far, no boo boos! I still usually keep a cheap-o gate at the top OR bottom depending on where we are in the house so I can keep a close eye on her.

Okay okay….here is my new revised version of my DELETED comment from 5 hours ago.

    1. I LOOOOVE the floor plan. It is awesome. SOO many bedrooms! I am so excited for you guys. It’s a perfect space for you guys :-)
    2. Holy cow the poor damage to that house! and the paint!!! and the wall paper!!! and the STENCILS?????? weeeeeeird.
    3. So many bathrooms!!! I have three toilets to clean right now, and I WISH I had those bathrooms in my OWN house. It would make me MUCH more happy to scrub :-) The toilet in Brinley’s bathroom is never used but I still have to clean it.
    4. Basements ROCK! I hate that about the South. No basements anywhere. It is amazing how much extra space there is when the basement is finished. It’ll be amazing for you guys. All that storage!!???
    5. I CANNOT wait for these updates on your blog! I am sooo so excited.

How is Greta adjusting??? Are you worried about her going up and down the stairs?? Maybe I should man up and take our gate down. I just KNOW Brin would be up and down those stairs all day and I just can’t deal with the pain of watching the stairs 24/7.

    YOU ARE A HOMEOWNER!!!!!!!!! :-) :-) :-)

okay, it just deleted my comment. Give me a few hours to muster up the strength to write it again….I sat Brin in frontof the TV to write a monster comment…aaaaand I don’t have the strength to do it right now. SOooo look forward to a good comment tonight!!!

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]
