The BIG Plans for Faye’s Nursery

I made the large letter art for Faye’s nursery (easiest, cheap tutorial right here) shortly before she was born and it’s been such a defining part of her room. But this weekend, we took it down to make room for something new… EEeee! We’re spilling a few more details including how long it took us this time, how I told Chris, and even talking baby names in this week’s podcast.   Ps. After a lot of questions, my jeans are these (I have them in 2 washes and I want more!) and my top is from here.

Where We’re Headed for the Lowe’s Spring Makeover + Casual Friday

Thank you for your patience this week as we read through all 2648 of your submissions for the Lowe’s Spring makeover. We took our task really seriously and ultimately landed on the space above, belonging to Aura S. of Baltimore, Maryland. We’re excited to share plans and progress and Instagram the project in real time when we’re actually doing the makeover. There were so many deserving spaces, and we wish we could have selected more than one, but are hopeful for a lot more future projects like this. We also want to thank you for all of your well-wishes about Greta’s hearing. She had a successful surgery yesterday. She woke up in a lot of pain, but she’s already hearing 100% better and we’re told it’s only going to improve over the next 10 days. 5 BIG, Area Rugs for Cheap (And the one we chose for the Living Room!)

Lately, I’ve been talking (mostly on the podcast, I think) about changing up our living room rug. The truth is, I still love the big, blue beauty after 3 years, but I just feel the need for a change.  Something lighter? Chris was on board for the change, but I’ve been hesitating because I don’t want to spend $$$ on a 10×14 rug–and I was convinced they were all so. much. money. Our current rug, the Indigo Baxter rug from Crate & Barrel, was $1500 and worth every penny. It’s plush and soft and after all these years, it’s still in phenomenal shape. Now, all the 10×14 rugs I was drawn to (including the one, I really really wanted) were closer to the $3000 range–which was just too much for us with two…

Over The Weekend

This weekend (really, starting Thursday as soon as they started pouring in) we, somehow, narrowed all 2648 of your bathrooms and kitchens you submitted for our Lowe’s Spring makeover down to hundreds. And then 100. And then 48. And now, 10. And we can’t possibly narrow it down anymore, so we’ve called on our dream team to help us get it down to 3. We wanted to thank everyone that told us their story and sent us their photos. There were 1581 kitchens and 1067 bathrooms coming in from all 50 states and D.C., too, and ALL of them are in need. Some more than others. It was humbling in a lot of ways and heart-breaking, too. We wish we could come visit all of you! We should have an announcement of where we’re headed hopefully by the end of this week or early next week. • In between peeking into your homes,…
