Revamp a Lamp

You may remember when we won a little contest RC Willey was putting on.  They not only posted the announcement on the front page of their website for a good week (!), but they also sent it out to everyone that voted along with a little voucher for $25 off a purchase.  If you voted, and you live near an RC Willey, listen up.  These vouchers expire tomorrow (October 30th).  And even though my picture was right on it saying that they had already forked over $1500, I took full advantage of the $25, and get this–there is no minimum purchase on that voucher either.  (If you voted or live close to an RC Willey and didn’t get a voucher, send me a message and I will gladly forward you a voucher to be used by tomorrow. You can only use one per household.) So, what did I get with my $25?…

Gettin’ my craft on: Pearly Pumpkin

Most of the blogs I follow are people I actually know.  The one MAJOR exception is these guys.  They are all about DIYing and really chic, simple and clean looking decor.  I am not a crafty person, per se–I leave that up to my sister, Krissy.  I have always stuck to a canvas and gettin’ my art on in that way.  But after I saw this idea for a seriously cool pumpkin over on YoungHouseLove, I had to have it for my decor.  From start to finish, it only took about 30 minutes, not including drying time. 1.  Start with a clean pumpkin.  I picked up this guy at Walmart for $2.50 and cleaned off all the dirt with a wet paper towel. 2.  While at Walmart, I also picked up some $.97 flat, white spray paint.  (At home, I had the more expensive spray paint, but the cheaper stuff dries faster and that…

Cleaning with a shadow (ahem, Greta) has its challenges.  Unloading/Loading the dishwasher is especially challenging.  As soon as I open it, she scurries over and is standing up holding a pot like, “Where does this one go?”  Hopefully the extra time I take now to let her “help” me will translate to her wanting to do dishes her whole life.  She follows me around all day.  Always right at my ankles.  She follows me from room to room and when she knows I’ll be in a room…

The BEST caramel dip I ever ate!

Okay, I am not a food network host or chef, so I am not sure anyone cares about the best thing I ever ate, but I never post recipes so this one HAS to be good. 1/4 cup of brown sugar 8 oz package cream cheese–softened 1/4 cup caramel ice cream topping Pinch of salt  (we LOVE Kosher, but regular works too) 1 tsp Vanilla Cream together brown sugar and cream cheese until smooth.  Mix in the remaining ingredients and refrigerate until ready to serve.  That’s it.  So easy, huh?  Oh, and when you ARE ready to serve it, top it with: Some Heath English Toffee Bits You are gonna die!  It is so much easier than unwrapping a whole bunch of caramels and melting them, and a whole lot tastier, too.  We dipped Granny Smith Apples and Hanover’s sourdough pretzel pieces, and I have a feeling we are gonna…
