It finally happened this week in our neck of the woods, Idaho–The sweet smell of fresh cut grass and the sound of mowers. It’s here! Doesn’t warm weather feel so freeing? Maybe it’s because I can go outside with barely any notice or that my windows are almost always propped open instead of shut! and locked! I love looking out the patio doors and seeing Charly laying on the cool, concrete step instead of her usual spot somewhere, wherever I just vacuumed. We pulled out the girls’ hand-me-down plastic playhouse with a dented roof and water table (always a hit) this week–both complete eyesores!–and I started browsing around for a proper playset for them. The thing is, every year we say This is the summer we’re going to tackle our yard. And it hasn’t happened yet. But actually this is the year because we signed a contract that our deck would be completed by May 23rd. Which is exhilarating and overwhelming at the same time. But, when I feel the heart palpitations coming on, I just daydream about that date, sipping lemonade and eating burgers on our finished deck and hum the line “Hello from the other siiiddddeeeee.”
Other fun things this week!
I ordered one of these EcoDeer, such a fun alternative to antlers (even those I still love antlers) for downstairs. Or on the back deck? Or in my bedroom? I love it so much, it’s going to be hard to pick just one spot. I might need a whole herd.
If you’ve ever flown with a baby, you’ll want to grab a kleenex before you watch this. I’m sobbing…again!
I can’t believe it’s already week 5 of the One Room Challenge! Claire killed it with that rug swap. I actually watched her on snapchat move the furniture herself and wiggle that rug under everything–a huge feat! Totally paid off.
Okay prettiest outdoor pillow! And this navy textured one, too.
If a medicine ball and a pouf had a babe.
The coolest weekend bag for those of us who like to feel unpacked, even in a hotel room.
Lastly, I cannot wait for you all to tune in to our podcasts! They’re completely free to listen to streaming on your phone or computer through a bunch of different options including iTunes, Stitcher or right here on the blog. We’ll have direct links to the first 3 episodes for you Monday morning. And then we’ll release a new one every Monday after that. I can’t tell you how fun and refreshing this project has been. I think you’re really going to enjoy it.
Hope you have the best weekend!

Our wood grain Shaker cabinet fronts were designed for busy, high-traffic homes like ours. Clad with durable textured thermofoils, this line is compatible with Sektion, Akurum, Godmorgon, and Besta cabinets from IKEA. It's the perfect, practical way to add the warmth of wood to all the rooms of your home.
We have teamed up with Loloi to create a line of rugs that are as affordable as they are beautiful. This collection houses a great mix of traditional and modern rugs, in cottage-y colorways, as well as vintage-inspired beauties that you’ll want to roll out in every room.
We partnered with Stuga on a line of hardwood floors — The Ingrid is really livable, and the color is very neutral. It doesn’t lean warm or cool, it’s that just right in-between. We have really loved putting it everywhere in our house. It’s the best jumping-off point for design, no matter your interior style. In addition to being beautiful, Ingrid is really durable — we have three kids, and we always have a home construction project going on. Ingrid stands up to it all.

A reader recently asked me if I’m starting to fully embrace traditional style and whether we still consider our house to be a “modern Colonial” and why. It was a really great question and so timely — I had really just been thinking about my approach to this home and how my style has changed […]

I just flew with my baby on Saturday. Points for crying would be awesome! But honestly, my biggest worry wasn’t her crying, but having a blowout! Fortunately that never happened. And we had great people sitting by us. :)
Do you offer design services? I tried sending you an email and would love to get in touch with you if you do :)
I do! I’m just backed up at the moment. Probably 4 months out. I flagged your email and WILL get back to you. Promise. :)
Oh! You could SOOOOO DIY that Deer Plaque! Between a trip to Michaels and Home Depot, you’ll be well on your way to the “heard” in no time!!! And with extra $$ to spend on that amazing deck!
Thanks for the love!! Happy weekend! xx
